
Founded in 2000 by Charlene Raco, Charl’s Handijam for Handicapped, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that serves the terminally ill, mentally, physically and emotionally challenged in Staten Island. Its main purpose is to provide entertainment for those who get only their basic necessities met. Through local and national bands, Handijam raises funds for outings to such places as Great Adventure, WWE Wrestling events, Staten Island Yankees games, the New York Aquarium and the Bronx Zoo. The organizations with which we work include but are not exclusive to: Handijam operates strictly on donations and on the proceeds from the events that we coordinate, e.g. musical performances by local bands and national acts such as The David Nelson Band, Buddy Cage & the Electrix, Vassar Clements, The Toni Brown Band, Professor Louie & the Crowmatix and others.
