Hello there! This is an odd page with my random thoughts or lists or stuff - whatever i feel like putting up.
Okay then, the first thing i'll put here is my current 5 favourite songs (as at 10th March 2004); it'll give you a flavour of what i like.
1. God Only Knows (Brian Wilson)- the finest piece of popular music ever written, and the only song that i know of that can't be improved upon
2. Losing My Religion (REM) - damn near perfect pop song, which always starts me dancing (only slightly worse than Michael Stipe does).
3. Walk Like a Man (Bruce Springsteen) - because i do remember how rough my Dad's hand was on mine, on my wedding day, and i remember following him on the beach, trying to trace his footsteps in the sand. No other song makes me shiver every single time i hear it - the most personal connection i've ever made with a piece of music.
4. Tank Park Salute (Billy Bragg) - i've never decided if this is a song from a son to his dead father, or a husband to his dead wife (i think the former probably), but it always makes me want to cry.
5. War on Drugs (Bare Naked Ladies) - only discovered this recently and i find it so moving. Also one of the finest pieces of melody you could hope to find.
