Serj was born in Lebanon and he came to live in the states when he was a kid. He met Daron while playing with his own band in a studio. They had a talk and realised they had a lot in comon,they decided to work together, found a bassist and drumer they named the new band "soil" . Then came Shavo,the band asked him to be their manager,and he accepted. Having troubles with the bassist and Drummer, Daron and Serj made Shavo their new bassist. After a lot of drummers played in the band, but finding a great one was a hard, they eventualy did it. John joined the band, at last all the members of the band were gathered. It was in 1995 i think, Soil didn't seem to be an appropriated name for the band anymore. So they decided renaming the band "Victims Of A Down" but the name sounded way to selfish, and so, eventualy, Soil became System Of a Down. In the early ages of System, they were not really famous, still underground, but they were talented.Tthe band realeased their first album in 98, named after the band's name. Between Toxicity and System Of A down, a lot of songs were writen, way to much for all to fit in Toxicity. SOAD long wondered about making Toxicity a doble cd, but they decided not to do it. That's where Steal This Album comes from. Toxicity was released in 2001, and System made their first real mtv like videos, became more popular, with the explosive
Chop Suey, Aerials and Toxicity.
