Nice Nice
Chrome
Temporary Residence

Nice Nice is two men – a guitarist and percussionist – who recorded the entirety of Chrome live to tape. A sprawling affair, comprised of 16 instrumental tracks, the album is truly all over the place, in a very original way. Chrome is one of the strangest musical adventures I’ve taken in a while, fusing influences as diverse as James Brown, Slayer, Roni Size, Philip Glass and Primus into a futuristic sonic stew. Attempting to categorize this one will fry your brain, so let’s just settle on calling it weird, messed up, unique and absolutely fantastic. Nice Nice’s ability to pull this off live must be downright boggling.

Appeared in the March 2004 issue of Rockpile magazine.
