Possible Tom PACHECO UK Tour

Graeme is contemplating inviting Tom over for a UK tour either in November or (failing that) next Spring ~ it all depends on how much interest is shown in seeing Tom appear live over here in the UK. Please drop us a line and let us know your views on this subject...

ALBUM REVIEW: Ian McFERON ~ "SUMMER NIGHTS"

Star Rating: ****

Track Listing:
1. Shine A Little Light 2. I'll Come Knockin' 3. Hard Since You've Been Gone 4. Summer Nights 5. You're Still On My Mind 6. Streetlight Serenade 7. The Scarlet Dream 8. I Ain't Dead Yet 9. Come See Me (Before You Go) 10. The Ballad Of Florentino Ariza 11. My Old Lovers 12. Windchime 13. The Hollow Drum

All songs written by Ian McFeron. Produced by Doug Lancio

Ian McFeron ~ Vocals, Acoustic Guitar, Piano; Alisa Milner ~ Vocals, Fiddle, Cello; Doug Lancio ~ Electric Guitars; Micah Hulscher ~ Piano, B3, Wurlitzer, Rhodes; Billy Mercer ~ Bass; Brad Pemberton ~ Drums, Percussion

* Excellent album this by Nashville singer/songwriter Ian McFeron. His vocals are pitched somewhere between John Lennon & Lou Reed (a fine combination in my view) with the backing tracks being mainly acoustic guitar and/or piano driven with a solid bass/drum rhythm section pushing things along nicely. There's good support from Doug Lancio's slightly Jazzy electric guitar work, Alisa Milner's soulful backing vocals and Micah Hulscher's ethereal organ playing...

* Many of Ian's songs (lyrically) deal with the pain of regrets ~ "Summer Nights", "Hard Since You've Been Gone" & "My Old Lovers" being examples. If I had to compare this album with another one then the feel of it reminds me quite a bit of some of Neil Young's early albums ~ "After The Goldrush" perhaps? I can't think of a finer compliment than that...

* Best tracks are "The Scarlet Dream", "Hard Since You've Been Gone" (very Lennonesque vocal this one!) & the title track "Summer Nights"...

John STEWART: "ILLINOIS RAIN" ~ NEW 2 CD ALBUM!

* It was 1984 and John Stewart was back on the folk/pop/rock concert circuit after the heady days of his top hit of "Gold" and the album from which it came, "Bombs Away Dream Babies." After not having appeared in Chicago in over 10 years, he came to town on a stormy night along with his frequent sidekick Chuck McDermott, for a concert including songs from his Kingston Trio days, the early days of his solo career, his "Gold" era and the "soft rock" of the eighties. Devoted fans who had longed to see John perform came from hundreds of miles. The interplay between John and Chuck and the audience resulted in one of the absolute best shows of his career...
