UCLA JAZZREGGAE FESTIVAL 2008

REGGAE DAY

REVIEW BY MARSHA HUNT

UCLA JazzReggae Festival has always been a festival I have come to look forward to each year. Run totally by UCLA students, not only do I look forward to seeing the artist performing, but also the festival has become like a family reunion. I always see UCLA students that greet me and say it is good to see you again, also artists and dj's from the festivals previous years. What a blessing.

This years Reggae Day featured great performances from Capleton who was much fashionable in his red attire. The headliner for Reggae Day, Capleton energized the stage with an electrifing performance. After his show, Capleton spent alot of time taking pics and just talking with the people. What a guy!

Stephen Marley delighted the audience with songs from his Grammy winning album, "Mind Control". A favorite of mine was when he sang "Lonely Avenue". he also sang some of his dad's songs and was joined on stage by his older brother Ziggy Marley as they performed "Could You Be Loved". Another crowd pleaser was Stephen's very talented young son who proudly waved the Rasta flag.

Mr.Vegas was as energetic as ever, bringing the dancehall to UCLA. Other performers also delighted the crowd and made this year's Reggae Day a true ONE LOVE experience included Alaine, Selena Serrano and D.J. PaPa Keith.

Some good surprises where to see Bobby Brown, Cherine Anderson and my good friend Turtleman on Reggae Day.

Much respect go out to the students of UCLA who put together this years JazzReggae Festival. Bless. ...... REGGAE DAY PHOTOS BY
