Drawn together for seven years by our common love for music, camaraderie, faith and service, we had moved and carried on life's challenges. This could mean experiencing health and family problems in balancing time between practices, family, studies and work. However, it could simply mean hitting the right note and and singing the right pitch in the correct tempo in order to blend and make beautiful music together.

We initially sang in a mass with an undefined time slot in 1996. During this time, we were involved in a lot of acitivities in the parish like singing in fund raising concerts with other choirs. Before 1997 ended, we had been singing regularly in the Parish Youth Mass at 6:45 p.m., earning us the name Parish Youth Choir. In 1998, when we had Fr. Gerorge Misa as Parish Priest, we were coined as the “Hebigats.” We wondered why but we thought that maybe it's because of the heavy schedules of rehearsals and singing engagements the choir had gone into. More weddings, birthdays, carolings, mass invitations came our way. We even sang in funerals, house blessings and anniversaries, making us busy as ever.

Our current Parish Priest, Fr. Sel Hernandez hosted the Parish Fiesta in 1999. Together with other mandated organizations and village choirs in our parish, we presented the concert “Rhythm of Life” in honor and celebration of Corpus Christi.

In December of 2000, we had our 1st solo concert entitled “Sa Iyong Kanlungan, Inang Mahal.” The prayers we offered during our practices which lasted late at night gave us the strength to endure the fatigue and the pressure to memorize our pieces and get our notes right. Our faith and desire for service through music have spelled the difference. The Lord, in return gave us a gift we've been wanting to have for so long. A name very fitting for us. Psalm 42.

At present, we are 25 young men and women, each with unique personalities and different views in life as different as the qualities of our voices. This diversity in us makes us united in believing that Christ whom we love so much has given us a blessing that we will always treasure and share with others for God's greater glory. God's love and guidance continually inspire us not only to sing but also to be intimate with Him. We pray that each song we sing may bring joy and serenity in one's spirit, hope for the depressed, and strength for the weary.

As it is has been stressed in Psalm 42: “You alone are my strength, my shield, to you alone may my spirit yield...” our hearts are drawn to long and thirst for God's unconditional love and guidance brought about the obstacles that persist on hindering us in loving Him.

The 42nd Psalm Choir sings at the 5:30 Sunday mass at the Parish of the Last Supper of our Lord in Manila Times Village, Las Piñas City.
