Nemo are reuniting for one last gig to mark the closing of The Indie Temple

Nemo was started in June 2000, between the original three members, Adam Bell-Booth, Dave Cohen and Rueben Berg. Drummer Matthew Sianidis joined a couple of months later after numerous drummers were auditioned. To begin with it was originally a fun exercise about playing music and writing songs that slowly evolved into something more serious as the different members (who had never played their instruments before) developed better skills and more confidence.

Drummer Matthew Sianidis joined a couple of months later after numerous drummers were auditioned. To begin with it was originally a fun exercise about playing music and writing songs that slowly evolved into something more serious as the different members (who had never played their instruments before) developed better skills and more confidence. In 2002 the band got serious about gigging and started playing at the Chardon’s Corner Hotel. They participated in the Octoberfest band competition from 8-29 of October 2002 and came second overall. They also participated in the 2002 UQ band competition at the Red Room. In 2003 the band started playing regular gigs at the Indie Temple in Fortitude Valley. In November 2003 the long time bass player Adam Bell-Booth left to go to Germany to pursue romantic interests. The band decided to continue on and in February 2004 they decided that Matthew Sianidis should move to Bass and Drummer Matt Wynn joined. They have recorded a demo CD at Nasty Studios in West End and have also filmed a video for their song “Dream Come True” in conjunction with the Queensland College of Arts. The bands influences included U2, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Radiohead, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, The Who and The Beatles. Sadly in 2004, after failing to be nominated for a single ARIA, the band decided to call it quits. The band would like to thank all those who came and supported them over the years, and know that if they were able to touch just one person (with their music!), it was all worthwhile. Ah.
