EXECUTIVE BOARD BOOSTER MEETING

November 6, 2006

 

 

In attendance: Greg Urban, Brenda Urban, Jeanette Ustaszewski, Diane Wray, Terri Poplowski, and Cathy Vanderbleek.  The sign-in sheet was passed around and is attached to the original copy of these minutes.

 

1)         Meeting called to Order:       7:03 p.m. by President, Jeanette Ustaszewski.

 

2)         Approval of Minutes: Motion made by Brenda Urban and seconded by Diane Wray that the Minutes from the Executive Board Booster Meeting of October 2, 2006, as posted on the band website be approved as printed and posted.  Motion carried.

 

OFFICERS REPORTS:

 

3)      Treasurer’s Report:  (by Terri Poplowski)

Beginning Balance:              $ 7,706.71

Incoming Deposits:                 3,534.00

Outgoing Expenses:                            5,110.76

Current Balance as of 11/13/06:      $  6,129.95

 

Incoming Deposits include:        Band Fees, band shoes, duffel bag sales, Rehearse-A-Thon Fundraiser, concessions, etc.

Outgoing Expenses include:       insurance, instructor fees, concession supplies, band competition fees to FMBC, transportation expenses to Timber Creek, music arrangement fees, senior night cake, Booster supplies, drill rewrite fees, etc.

 

4)         Fundraisers (by Greg Urban) 

Jeanette Ustaszewski reported that $312 was raised as a result of candle sales, and the top sellers were Molly, Robby and Paul.  Mr. Urban reported that we will not be doing the Cherryhill Farms catalogs due to lack of time.  The next fundraiser will be the Holiday Concert on December 14, 2006 when the Boosters will raffle candles, concert tickets and other items we may get as donations.  There will be another fundraiser in January – to be announced.

 

5)         Newsletter:     (by Brenda Urban)

E-mail any ideas or articles for the newsletter to Brenda Urban.  The next band newsletter has not yet been copied and may not go out until December after all the competitions and States are over with.  We will go to  quarterly newsletter with publishing dates in March and at year end. 

 

6)         Volunteer Coordinator:            Brenda Urban and Greg Urban reported for Ginni Pedigo that the volunteer list for FMBC States at Boca Ciega on November 18, 2006 looks pretty good but we may need more help.  Let Ginni Pedigo know if you are available.  Report time is 11:00 a.m., and return time is 5:00 p.m.  Once again, all parents are encouraged to attend games and band events to support our band students.  THIS IS FOR OUR KIDS.

 

7)         Uniforms:        (by Sherry Wert)

The uniforms are washed.

 

8)         Concession Stand Sales         Mr. Urban reported for the McKenzies that Concession sales are done for the year.  There is food left over so we will do a barbeque with the leftovers after the rehearsal on November 17th.  Help will be needed.  Anticipated report time for helpers is 6:00 p.m.

MR. URBAN’s UPDATE:   

 

12)      Rehearsals/Upcoming games/Upcoming band competitions/Auditions/FBA

Recent Competition Results: East Lake – 3rd place in Division AAA; FBA – Superior rating.

Rehearsals:  Regular rehearsals through November 16th, one additional rehearsal on Friday, November 17th right after school to prepare for FMBC (States) and a barbeque to follow rehearsal.

Upcoming competitions:  November 18th FMBC (States) at Boca Ciega.  Report time 11:00 a.m., return at 5:00 p.m.

Winter Concert:  At NEHS Auditorium on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 7:30 p.m.

All County Band Auditions will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Dixie Hollins High School from 3 – 7 p.m.  We have several students auditioning.

All State Band Auditions:  results were just released and Joey Vanderbleek made All State Band.  Congratulations Joey!

College Clinics:  Coming up December 8, 2006.  Invitations issued to Andy Sardonni, Crystal Luecke, Dustin Brause, Joey Vanderbleek, and Ashley Baker.  Congratulations!

 

OPEN FORUM:   

13)       Theme for November General Booster Meeting on 11/13/2006. 

It will be a “Cookies & Cocoa” theme.  Everyone is to bring one dozen cookies on a platter to display and share, and a tin to take home a dozen cookies.  Hot chocolate will be supplied by the booster board.

….  PLEASE COME; WE WANT ALL STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO ATTEND AND TAKE PART IN THE BAND BOOSTERS.

 

14)       Board President, Jeanette Ustaszewski, announced that at the December General Booster Meeting she will hold a holiday party at her home FOR PARENTS ONLY.  It will be on December 10, 2006 at 7:00 p.m.  More details to follow.

 

15)       The next Executive Board Meeting is December 4, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at NEHS.

Minutes of October 16, 2006

4.                                                                     Fundraisers:    (By Greg Urban)          The Rehearse-A-Thon raised approximately $1,600

collected so far - (possibly $3,000) - our largest amount ever; the TASCO Yard Sale raised approximately $500; and candle order forms will go out to the students on Monday, October 23, 2006.  There are seven duffel bags left ($25 each) and Mr. Urban awarded one to Jessie for raising the most money for the Rehearse-A-Thon ($305).  We want to put in a reservation right away to do another TASCO Yard Sale for the event coming in March 2007 at Crescent Lake.   Catalogs will be arriving in November from Cherryhill Farms just in time to sell Christmas products.

 

5.                                                                     Newsletter:     (by Brenda Urban)       Will be mailed by Friday, October 20, 2006.  E-mail

 any ideas or articles for the newsletter to Brenda Urban. 

 

6.                                                         Volunteer Coordinator:          Brenda Urban and Greg Urban reported for Ginni Pedigo

 that the volunteer list for future events looks good.  We may still need some volunteers for the away game at Osceola High School on October 27th, so let Ginni know if you are available to help.  We have two buses, 88 seats (68 band students) for the Osceola game.


 

These following are listed as volunteers for the Chamberlin competition: Terri Poplowski, Jeanette Ustaszewski, Diane Wray, Rebecca Bacon, Tina Allen, Joe Martinez, Lin Brause, etc.  There is one truck for the Pit, and one truck for instruments.  The report time is 2:30 p.m. and the buses will leave at 5:00 p.m. and return at 11:00 p.m.

 

7.                                                                                 Uniform Chair:            (by Sherry Wert)          Sherry report that the uniforms smell very

 bad  and she  used Fabreze on them and the uniform bags.

 

8.                                                                                             Concession Stand Sales:        (by Kim McKenzie)      Kim reported that we only made a

 profit of $260 at the last home football game due to poor attendance at the game.  Hoping for more opportunities to use concession stand in the future. 

 

9.                                                                     Website:         (by Brenda Urban)       Brenda reported for Lin Brause that the Band

 President’s message and the Band Director’s messages have been posted on the website.

OLD BUSINESS:

10.                                                                                           Senior Nite football game:     (by Greg Urban)           It is done.  We had a beautiful cake

(and great photos are posted on the band website).

 

11.                                                                   Band Photos:  (by Greg Urban)           The individual band member photos preview day is

October 23, 2006, here in the band room from 3 - 8:00 p.m.  The group marching band photo is to be taken by Professional Photographer, Chris Gaines.  We may go on the stage or on the football field for this picture.  Also, if you chose to, you may borrow the band uniforms to get individual student photos taken at other studios.

 

12.                                                                                                                   Timber Creek Marching Arts Festival:            (by Greg Urban)           Competition went

very well.  Our score was 68.3 and we received Third Place out of six bands in our division.  We received a Superior in music, effects, and marching.  We qualified for State competition.  Still undecided if we are going to compete at States at Boca Ciega High because there are 12 bands in our division.

MR. URBAN’S UPDATE:  

 

13.       Rehearsals/Upcoming competitions/Upcoming games/Auditions/FBA:

Rehearsals will proceed as scheduled.  Competitions scheduled are  Chamberlin, East Lake and FBA at Clearwater High School.  All County Band Auditions are November 8th at Dixie High School.  All State results will not be posted until some time in November.  The Quad County Clinic Study, so far chosen to attend are Crystal Lueke and Andy Sardoni.  Florida Music will be here on October 18th from 3 - 6:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome to look through the music for solo and ensemble selections.


 

The away football game on October 27th at Osceola High School will be televised on Brighthouse Channel Catch 47, the entire football game and halftime show.  Both football teams are tied for first place, so this game will determine who goes to play-offs.
