Burton Jackson was part of Claire Omar Musser's 100-piece Marimba Orchestra that played at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair (unless, of course, he bought his marimba "used"). View archival photographs of the Marimba Orchestra at the West Point Marimba Festival Photo Gallery.


Every marimba that was created for the Century Of Progress 100-piece Marimba Orchestra sported a custom-made brass plaque, identifying the owner of the particular instrument. The nameplate on Mr. Jackson's instrument reads something like:

SERIAL No. (?)
Built by J.C. DEAGAN Inc. CHICAGO FOR THE CENTURY of PROGRESS ONE HUNDRED PIECE MARIMBA BAND A.D. 1933
