Bill Jacobs

This particular photograph of Mr. Bill Jacobs was sold on eBay quite awhile ago by "Finemark". As is sometimes the case, I missed the auction, forgetting to check my bookmarks! Thank goodness for the old right mouse button's "save picture as" feature!

I know precious little about Mr. Jacobs, other than the facts that are supplied by this photograph. He used handpuppets to play mallets, and he played on a variety of empty bottles (I saw this feat performed by the fellow from "Mickey Finn"). Hopefully Mr. Jacobs' touring schedule didn't drive him to orally empty all of those bottles personally ( I saw this feat performed by a guitar player I once toured with). Judging by the photograph on the bottom right of the collage, Mr. Jacobs did not have enough money in his production budget to hire a real trained seal.

Apparently Mr. Jacobs also played brass instruments, (with handpuppets, of course), in what looks to be a Las Vegas-style variety act. If you are the current owner of this photograph, won't you please drop us an e-mail and elaborate on the career of Mr. Jacobs? If you have any information about Mr. Jacobs & his handpuppet pals, or any other vintage percussionist, please do not hesitate to leave said information in our Guestbook.
