Three months after Paul's death.
Part Four
"Billy?" I smile to myself as I hear Benji come in my front door.
I yell back, "Up here," and begin to brush my teeth.
I can hear Benji's hurried steps up the stairs and turn to see him in the doorway. He grins and walks into my bathroom standing against the doorframe, "Are you ready to go yet?" he asks, his eyes sweeping my body and keys twirling around his fingers.
"Nah uh," I reply as I swallow some water, "I got home later than I thought I would." I trail off in search of my socks. "What time are we supposed to be there?" he answers with '8, we got a half hour' and I nod. "Ok, I still gotta do my hair?"
Benji laughs, "You're such a woman."
I playfully smack him, "Yeah, well you used to take forever with those damn liberty spikes!" I say running my hands thru my damp hair. I glance at him and he's just standing there watching me, "Make yourself useful- go find my shoes or something." I say shooing him away. He smiles and shakes his head leaving the bathroom.
I mess with my hair relentlessly not getting a desired effect, whining as Benji returns to the doorway. "It wont do anything!" I groan and Benji laughs quietly.
"Spike it," he shrugs, "like when we were younger."
"I'm too old for that," I giggle and he shakes his head.
"Come here," he says taking my arm and turning me. I face him as he reaches up and styles my hair. He smells good- like clean clothes and cologne. I smile as he finishes, checking my reflection and liking the result. I turn back to him and he smiles.
We just stand there for a second in the close proximities before either of us speaks, "Why did you ever stop wearing eye makeup?" he asks and I shrug. I repeat the question getting the same answer.
He smiles and reaches up again smoothing down a misplaced hair but his hand grazes over my temple and rests on my cheek, "You are beautiful without it anyway." I blush and shake my head averting my gaze from him for a quick second. I look back at him and mirror his touch, my hand resting on his cheek, my thumb sliding over his cheekbone.
He is the beautiful one. He has that dark kind of beauty.
"I always thought you were gorgeous," he says, almost in a whisper, breaking my train of thought.
I curse as his cell phone rings and he frowns, "'LO?" he says frustrated. And I can't help but giggle as I pull on my shoes.
That's the fifth time this week we've almost kissed- and I'm as giddy as a 15 year old boy.
He closes his phone and sighs, "They got there early?"
"Alright, alright I'm ready," I say laughing getting his hint.
I turn around and pick up my wallet then turning around quickly I find myself face to face with Benji again. I barely have time to smile when his lips are on mine.
I'm shocked at first but then I kiss back. He pulls away, his eyes closed and a small smile tugging at his lips.
He opens his dark brown eyes slowly, shining and excited. He leans in again and presses another short, soft kiss on my lips.
The kisses are small but good enough to let me know that I'm not making a wrong decision in trying this relationship over again.
He smiles and blushes slightly, looking away before smiling at me again. He's too cute. I shake my head and grin, "Come on, we're gonna be late."
Yeah things have been going good. Very good.

"Oh there they are," Benji says pointing somewhere in the line of people waiting outside of this posh restaurant. I follow him as he leads us over to a man and a woman. He greets them as I stand a little behind him waiting for an introduction.
He turns to me and smiles reaching out to take my arm, his hand surprising me and slipping into my palm. "This is Billy," he smiles as I shake their hands, "my boyfriend."
I smile and try to hide the shock in my expression as we're led into the restaurant and seated. His friends leave to get drinks from the bar and he turns to me. I know I'm still grinning.
He smiles back and leans over slightly nudging me with his shoulder and grabbing my hand at the same time.
I lean into him as his thumb traces over the back of my hand. "So boyfriend, eh?" I ask and grin more, if that's even possible.
He nods and matches my grin, "Yup. Boyfriend." He leans in and kisses my temple, making me blush and giggle.
Yep, its good.

I look at the clock as we step into my house. It reads after midnight and I turn to Benji as he asks to use the bathroom. "Of course," I answer and watch him walk down the hall.
I smile to myself. I'm so happy at this very second.
He comes back into the foyer and smiles, "Well its getting late I should be getting home. I'll see you tomorrow?"
I nod and smile, "Yep."
There's an awkward silence as we both stand there unsure what to do. We laugh at the same time and Benji sighs, "eh, I'll see you tomorrow." He steps up to me and kisses me quickly before pulling away and smiling. "I like being able to do that."
I smile, "I like doing that," and kiss him lightly again. He smiles and pulls away walking towards the door. I grab his arm just as he's about out the door, "You know," I say tipping my head towards the clock, "it is a little late." Even though it's hardly late at all. "Why don't you stay over tonight?" he's done it a thousand times before.
He shrugs and shuts the door again, "Alright." He smiles and we go up the stairs and part to go into the separate bedrooms.
But we both pause at the doors and turn to each other. He smiles and steps over to me, "Goodnight Billy," he says and kisses me- deeper than he has before.
I smile and say goodnight back but before he gets back to the door I laugh lightly, "Benji?" he turns and looks at me. I open my mouth but close it not knowing the right words.
I sigh and smile, "Why don't you stay in here with me?"
He smiles back and slowly walks over to my bedroom, following me inside and shutting the door softly behind us.
Good Night.
