The Sequel to Platinum Rings, Picture Frames and Red Duvet Covers
Ch. 1 Phone Calls To My Wife
“I'm getting married today!” Benji said running through upstairs hallway in the house. His foot caught on a tile and he fell right at the feet of his twin. Joel shook his head and helped Benji up. Benji jumped and grinned, “I'm getting married today!”
Joel laughed, “I know Benj. But you aren’t supposed to be up here. You can’t see Julie till the ceremony. Go back downstairs.”
Benji shook his head, “But I want to see her. I haven’t seen her since last night. Oh I know! I’ll call her! Joel, go tell her to answer the phone.” He bounded back down the stairs jumping off the last three. In just four hours they would be leaving to go to the church where they were to get married. He grabbed the nearest cell phone and dialed the house number.
Julie picked it up laughing, “Hi Benji!”
Benji smiled and sat in the middle of the kitchen floor, “Hi Juuuuliiieeeee!” he laughed and pouted into the phone, “I miss you!”
“You saw me like eight hours ago,” Julie laughed.
Benji pouted yet giddily still, “I miss you though! How’s my future wife? Hehehe I love saying that!”
Julie laughed, “Well how’s my husband?”
Benji smiled, “I'm good! See? Doesn’t that sound cool?”
Julie smiled, “Yes, very cool my husband.”
“Hehehehehehe! I’m going to write you a letter! I love you, Julie. My wife!”
“I love you too Benji.” She hung up the phone and smiled. They wrote each other little cards that expressed “I'm so happy this day is finally here”, “I can’t wait to see you”, and about half a dozen “I love you!” each.
Ch. 2 Time to Party
The church was beautiful. There were flowers and people everywhere. It was odd seeing the mix of people. There were friends with piercings in orange tuxedos and others in black tuxedos with blue liberty spikes. And then there was Julie’s conservative Southern family. They all sat there wide eyed as they watched the church fill with strange famous people. Benji had changed all his piercings to studs so he wouldn’t scare too much of Julie’s family that he hadn’t yet met. All their friends that were in bands came to the wedding. Since Benji had money now, the engagement and wedding rings he bought for Julie were hugenormous. She still wore the platinum ring but on her right hand middle finger- it still had so much meaning to both of them. Different friends took turns playing the music at the reception. Everybody was mixed up. For instance half of Mest joined with half of New Found Glory to play a Green Day song.
When it came time for the first dance Joel, Billy and Tony from Mest took the stage to serenade Benji and Julie. “Well I originally wrote this song for my first love Benji- but it will have to do,” Tony joked. Joel smacked Tony, “Man, Benj and I wrote this song! This is for Julie. Congrats you two. We love you.” Tony and Billy played while Joel sang. “This is called I Promise You. Benj, Julie here it is” Joel said.
It’s in the silences
The words you never say
I see it in your eyes
Always starts the same way
It seems like everyone we know
Is breakin up
Does anybody ever stay in love?
Anymore
I promise you
From the bottom of my heart
I will love you till death do us part
I promise you
As a lover and a friend
I will love you like I never love again
With everything I am
I see you look at me
When you think I'm not aware
You’re searching for clues
Just how deep my feelings are
How do you prove the sky is blue?
The oceans wide
All I know is what I feel
When I look into your eyes
I promise you
From the bottom of my heart
I will love you till death do us part
I promise you
As a lover and a friend
I will love you like I never love again
With everything I am
Oh there are no guarantees
That’s what you always say to me
But late at night
I feel the tremble in your touch
What I'm trying to say to you
I never said to anyone
I promise you
I promise you
From the bottom of my heart
I will love you till death do us part
I promise you
As a lover and a friend
I will love you like I never love again
With everything I am
With everything I amBenji sang quietly into Julie’s ear as they danced.
Everyone partied until about 2 am. Most of Julie’s family left- their friends had all stayed. By the time everyone got home they were exhausted. They left for Hawaii the next morning. Honeymooning there for a week- they came back well tanned.
