Before leaving for work, Sandi Hingle told her
children that she loved them and hugged them tightly. Kyle asked
if he could come with her, but she told him, no. How was she to
know that this would be the last time she would see him alive.
Sandi's mother Linda DiMarco was babysitting the kids for her.
3 hours later, Linda called Sandi, frantic. "I can't find
Kyle!" Sandi told her to calm down and call the police.
"I'll be home in a minute." She fully expected to find
Kyle at home when she got there.
Kyle (4) had disappeared with his new friend James Baker (8).
There was a canal behind the house, but everyone was sure they
hadn't gone back there. Both boys knew they weren't supposed to
go near the water without adult supervision. They had asked if
they could go swimming, but were told no. It was thought that
they were lost in the woods or kidnapped or something. The boys
pictures were aired on television, the whole neighborhood
mobilized to help them find the missing children.
A little over 9 hours later at 2:40 am the 2
boys were found in the 4-10 ft. canal behind the house. Nothing
could've prepared the parents for such a deep loss.
