Welcome to Kaitlyn's Home Page

Kaitlyn had a great Spring Semester in school at Drexel R-IV. In February, she had the privilege of participating in the District Spelling Bee in Adrian, Missouri. She was nervous and didn't get past the first round, but it was a great experience for her. She was very proud of herself for being the top speller in her class.

Kaitlyn is a wonderful student and loves to learn. Math and Reading are her two favorite subjects. She has excelled in reading and is reading at almost a 3rd Grade level. Aunt Barb and Uncle Larry gave her some Lesson Books for Christmas and she has completed the Math book and is working on finishing the other two.

Kaitlyn finished the school year off by participating in Field Day and picnic. Her team did well and they had a lot of fun. Each student that participated received Field Day Cups.

Along with all of the fun she had during the school year, Kaitlyn was named on the Principal's Honor Roll for 3rd and 4th Quarters. She was so proud of these certificates that she would not allow anyone to touch them.

As most of you know, Kaitlyn has always expressed an interest in horses. Well, she has started learning how to ride. My uncle raises horses and Kait had her first riding lesson when we went to visit. She loved it! She even has her own black felt cowboy hat. By the end of the first afternoon, she was able to mount and dismount by herself and walk the horse around the yard without any assistance from anyone. Of course, now she thinks that we need to go down there every weekend so that she can ride.

Kaitlyn spends most of her time riding her bike, playing on the tire swing, taking walks in the country, and riding on the 4-wheeler with her cousins Brad and Lauren.

I have listed some of the awards that Kaitlyn has received at below. The Enjoy the Game - Certificate of Commitment was a special program that the kids participated in to learn about respect. The certificate represents her commitment to: Show respect to her classmates and peers, show respect to her teachers and all adults, show respect for authority and the rules, and to try to always do the right thing. The certificate for Musicianship was presented to Kaitlyn for singing in Music class by herself. She received the Best Prepared certificate for always having what she needed to work and complete her homework on time and the Best Effort certificate was for always giving her work the very best effort.
