Each hair is coated with tiny scales are ruffled, giving
your hair a dull, rough look. Conditioners smooth the scales down by coating
each strand with a fine film of oil. This keeps your hair shiny. Massage a small
amount of conditioner into your hair after shampooing and rinse it out
thoroughly.
Deep Conditioning Treatments
These are strong conditioners for
very dry hair or damaged hair. They need to be left on for longer than an ordinary
conditioner so, after applying wrap a towel around your head. Leave the
conditioner on for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then rinse your hair thoroughly with
warm water.
Hot Oil Treatments
This can seal each hair and prevent
moisture evaporating. They are especially good for dry hair. You can buy almond
oil or hot oil treatments from a pharmacy. Massage the oil into your hair. For
best results, sleep with the oil on your hair. In the morning, shampoo your
hair and rinse thoroughly.
Now that we know the three layers of
our skin we should have to know how to care for it...
We should have to stay clean always,
all the nasty dirt are(yuck!)sticking at our skin due to exhaustion to
dust.Cleaning our face need special care. The skin on your face is thinner and
more delicate than the rest of the body. It dries out quickly, because it's
exposed to the elements all day.Don't wash it more than twice a day since this
may irritate your skin and cause more problems. If you have black skin, check
that cleansers do not contain resorcinol, which can cause skin to mottle.
Different Types of Skin
Dry Skin
Oily Skin
Combination Skin
To give your skin a deep clean, fill
a large bowl with hot water from the tap. The water shouldn't be boiling. Cover
your head and the bowl with a towel, then lower your face over the steam,
keeping it at least 30 centimeters above the bowl. Remember, steam can burn, so
test the distance with your hand before-hand. After about 10 minutes, you'll
find that the steam has opened the pores of your skin, leaving it clean and
elastic. Take off the towel, wash your face really well, and splash it with
cold water. This will close the pores again.
Soap
Washing with soap and water is an
easy way of cleaning your face. But some harsh soaps can away the natural oil
that keep your skin supple and water proof, leaving it feeling 'tight' Choose a gentle soap and make sure you rinse off all the lather.
Cleansers
This contain a mixture of oil and
water. They are gentler on the skin of your face than soap and are particularly
helpful to people with dry skin. Massage a little cleanser onto your face and
neck with clean fingers, cotton wool or a tissue. Wipe the cleanser off
thoroughly.
Face Scrub
Very fine, gritty cleansers that you
rub gently on your face. They take skin cleansing a step further. Not only do
they get rid of the dirt, but they scratch off all the dead skin cells as well. This process is called expoliation. It leaves your skin feeling smooth and
fresh. Treat your face gently, though your skin should feel fresh and tingly after a face scrub, not red and sore. You should use a moisturizer after givingyourself a face scub.
Moisturiser
These are creams which you apply to
those areas of your face that feel especially dry or tight after washing. These
creams helps trap natural moisture in. You also need to use moisturiser if you
are going out in the hot sun, or in the wind or rain because all of these dry
skin out. Boys should use a moisturiser after shaving.
Toners
It is usually made up of diluted alcohol mixed with water and a thick liquid called glycerine. You can use it after cleansing your face, to take off any last traces of dirt of grease. Soak a piece of clean cotton wool with toner and pat it gently over your face and neck. It should leave your face feeling fresh and tingly. Toners are best for people with oily skin.
