The boys of Castle Park are one of the most amazing
high school teams in the South Bay area. All of their coaches work together
and help each other out.
The
Freshmen boys' team isn't as successful as the Varsity boys' team, but
they have a lot to go on with what they got. Though it took over a month
and half to put the Freshmen together (because most of them didn't make
grades after the last 6 weeks), the Freshmen team has talent with the
players. With Frank, the shooter, Videl, the left-handed pointguard, and
Joseph, as the all-around guy, the team is bound to make next-year's JV
even more amazing. Their coach, Coach Darrin (or "Moose"), makes
the team even better with his experience as a 2-year Defensive Player.
The
JV boys have Hakim, Jorge, Conrad, and other players that make the JV
worth watching. Hakim, moved down because of the lack of post players,
pushes the rest of the team as Jorge, a freshman, plays point alongside
Anthony (Lil' Amps). Conrad, a fellow pinoy, can jump like a track
star and run like one, too. Other players, like Laurence and Emmanuel,
make a difference in their presence and their hustle, along with their
occassional three-pointers. Their coach, Coach AC, is an experienced coach
who teaches fundamentals and heart.
The
Varsity Boys' make last year's team look stupid. All of the players have
their own skill and their own style, whether it be crossing up a defender
or blocking a million shots. All the players have a good shooting range
that they work on every day in practice, from three-pointers to jumpshots
to dunking. They all can hustle and play defense. Their coach, Coach Don
Brooks, and assistant coach, Coach Sean Brooks, both come from Petersburg,
Virginia, and bring with them the self-confidence of East Coast's ways.
