How Make to a Rock Band Making a rock band is probably the single most important thing in ones life. It can lead to fame and fortune or it can just be fun on the weekend. Either way you need to know how to start and how to get good. My name is Geoff “Da Gat” Reith and I’ll be here to guide you along the way to making a band. · First you need to decide what instruments that you are going to need. The normal layout, such as, guitar, second guitar, vocals, bass and drum is very common. Or you can use those instruments and other instruments such as, keyboard, trumpet or other. · Once you have decided the instruments that you will use, then you need to find people who are willing to play and hopefully already play these instruments. Try to make everybody in the band at the same skill level with their instruments so that you can play relatively the same skill level of songs. · Once you have decided the people in your band depending on the skill level of each than you must decide the skill level of the songs you play. If you are all fairly new you should try songs in the punk rock or punk pop categories such as Blink 182, Greenday and Not by Choice. If you can already play those than you should move up to things such as Our Lady Peach, Weezer or other bands a bit more difficult to play. · Once you can play those you need to start thinking about writing your own songs. Your own songs aren’t going to start off as masterpieces, but you will notice that once you write a couple they will start to get better and better and better and better. Then you need to start performing your songs. If you are still in school then you should sign up for all the Coffee House’s and battle of the bands you can. · You need to get feedback from all your friends and people who have heard you play. If it is good comments then there is no problem you just need to keep on playing the way you have. If they have comments or suggestions on how to improve, you should listen to them and try to make the changes that they have. · If you have several songs that are good enough to record you should try to find someone who has a connection with a record studio. If you can’t then you might have to pay full price, which is very expensive. · If you can get recording to you should start off by doing a three to five track demo CD. · This is where you can decide if you want to go big. You can try to get a record deal with using the demo CD that you have made. If don’t want to than you can just keep going recreation for fun.
