April 20 2003

So I'm holding onto this string thinking "ok that just made my night" when my dad (it was just me and him there, but he hung at the bar when I was at the stage) comes pushing up through the crowd to tell me that he just got me the second to the last "the stone pony presents" poster for me. this was cool.

The Wallflowers played for two hours but it still ended too soon. The thing I didn't know at the time was that the night was hardly over. When they went off of the stage, I headed straight out of the building to maybe catch them but there was this huge crowd that I kinda got stuck in. I made my way outside finally and my dad told me that they had just gotten inside their tour busses. I was too late.

As usual, the show alone was not good enough for me and I made my dad circle the tour busses with me until I found an open window. I could see guys moving around in there so I got out a pen and a couple Stone Pony napkins that I had gotten for just such an occasion and I'm like "hey guys, can i have an autograph?" up at the window. Well some guy comes over but i couldn't see him. He's like "they're coming out in a little bit" and shut the window. I wasn't sure if he was just trying to get me to leave or what was up so I hung around.

As I headed for the door of the bus, I got my dad to walk (actually jog) back to his truck to get my Stone Pony poster out to get autographs on. I hung there for about 15 minutes and finally the door of the bus opened up.
