The Windwalker Story

"Windwalker" Dave Miziul started his musical journey in the mid-70's when he hitchiked across the U.S and Canada with a guitar searching for the ultimate meaning in life. He was fascinated with the various facets of people, life, colors, cities, and questions as he marveledas to why he was on the planet. His idols were Jim Croce, Don McLean, Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, and Harry Chapin. He often went hungry, and he often went without a bed. As a homeless man in Vancouver, Canada, he often played guitar ont he streets of Hastings and Granville. He also traveled to California, and played guitar on sidewalkes of Kansas City and St. Louis.

For a while in the 1980's, he lived in a pickup truck with his guitar. After moving from place to place in Wisconsin, he found work as a CNA and saved money to build a recording studio in his apartment, and purchased plenty of other musical instruments besides a guitar. Over the past 2 1/2 years, he as been drawing from his reflections and life and putting them into his eleven CD's. He now plays 12 instruments, including keyboards, organ, banjo, mandolin, autoharp, harmonica, cornet, flute, bass, electric guitar, primitive flute, and panflute. His goal is to continue practicing his skills on his instruments, continuing to make music that is energetic, pleasing, thought-provoking, non-commercial, exciting, interesting, and creative.

Windwalker has an digital 8 track recording mixer he uses to create his own one man band. He composes his own lyrics and his own songs.

Windwalker intends to make a lasting impression on his listeners with reggae, disco, rock'n'roll, classical, folk, country, blues, spirited, jazz, and bluegrass. All of the lyrics are original.

Windwalker puts a great amount of love, passion, patience, time, creativity, honesty, and emotion into his music and his recording studio. The name "Windwalker" was penned on David J. Miziul, when, in Fifield, Wisconsin, where it became very cold, often 20 degrees below zero, Dave worde an orange ski mask and walked through the blowing wind and drifting snow on his way to town. For a while no one saw his face.

THE MUSIC

Windwalker writes and sings about his ideas gained from his past experiences and to the present knowledge. He presents them in many different musical styles, from the electric guitar solo on (something) to the simple melody and pretty story of "Hillbilly in the Rain" which conveys his personal walk with God, and includes a Bluegrass jam for the ending. We hope you enjoy.

Windwalker does not use alcohol and uses his experience to temper his songwriting, using his musicianship to improve his osngs. Windwalker discovers the musical pattern and joyfully channels them into his songs with conviction. some of them portray storms as his part like a gypsy-like trader.

Other songs portray his thoughts and ideas on life and the process of life, covering a a vast array of topics from love, trains, Kings, Freedom, spirituality, homelessness, world concerns, and cannibalism. His songs can be exteremely serious to light hearted and humorous. The Windwalker through inspiration and meditation, continues to search for the key ingredients for the right songs in order to provide reflection and entertainment for the people.

"I love music and everything about it", claims Windwalker. "I like its forms, it's lyrics, it's moods, the happiness derived from listening to it, creating it, and working on it."
