Hot Stuff:
Here in Los Angeles, We had a Disco Station, KIIS FM. I ould listen every morning while getting ready for class @ FIDM. This one particular morning they mentioned that they were going to play a new one from Donna Summer. I assumed that it would be Mimi's song since it was the one she featured on the Year Of The Child show.
Well Hot Stuff came on and I cannot tell you how much that ruined my day!
I LOVED IT!!!!!
I was sick all the way to school! (like when you have to s**t real bad and can't find a toilet)
Donna's fight for 'HOT STUFF': Give it to Cher?
I heard this story.....
Donna had alway run everything through Neil, but was growing tired of "disco" geared material. She wanted to sing rock songs. After all she's a Pop artist...not a disco singer. So Donna got this song she and Giorgio loved, Hot Stuff, and they decide to rock it up and do it without Neil's knowledge. Donna was very proud of this one.......she and Gorgio marched into Neil's office with the finished tape of Hot Stuff, told Neil to just sit back and listen....he did.....all the way through.......when the song got to the end.....he said, "Wow, that would be great for Cher!" Donna could not believe her ears!
There was quite a battle for Donna to keep the song her own. It finally came down to a threat by Donna.....to never sing anything by gospel! Neil gave in.
Now, wo knows the real story. it's been said the fight was all about Bad Girls(?).

The Tom Snyder Show
BAD GIRLS TOUR
Opening Night, The local news Showed a short Clip of the show "Donna Summer Opens at Universal tonight for 8 nights of sold out shows"....Donna was in the dress that would be the fist of the evening (an ugly thing) and Donna was FAT!
I saw Donna on Sunday, August 8th 1979, Universal Amphitheatre.
Brooklyn Dreams Opened....all I remember is that Bruce was awefully fem!
The light's dim....and the Orch & Band play a Donna Medley
The Set was Palms, Brick, Lamp posts, street signs (Hollywood/Vine).......
Then Once Upon A Time Played......
Way up behind and above the band was Donna.....In the most god aweful white hooded cape with lots of gold accents....did nothing for her IMO.
She sang OUAT and towards the end she slowed it down to just a piano and her "Once upon a time...there was a girl....who believed all her dreams could come true....so she prayed real hard......and one day they did come true"...and finished it with the same last note she sings on the OUAT lp. Just beautiful!
The Fairy tale High(removed the hood)/Faster and Faster to Nowhere...changing spoken words to "Please help me get out of here....(screaming)I CAN'T BREEEEEATHE! (chills!)(removed the cape to reveal that ....I don't know how to describe white dress)
My Man Medley (blue sequin dress with black lace ruffles)
The Way We Were (Medley)
Sunset People (leopard dress/cape...silver lame lined)
Bad girls
Hot Stuff (7x)(silver panties)
Heaven Knows
Love to Love You Baby (gold/coper/silver sequin dress)
I Feel Love
Last Dance (white sequin dress)
