Chapter Thirteen

I had woken up in a dark room. I could see Mark sitting on a chair near me. He smiled evilly and came over to me. He had a long piece of wood in his hands. I felt it as it came down at hit me on the head... the rest was a blur.

I didn't know how long I was there. I was laying on the cold, hard ground. Rope tied around my wrists and feet. I could still taste the blood in my mouth. My head hurt, my legs hurt... well, to sum it up, everything hurt. I wondered if I told him, he would stop... I doubt that.

I feared for my unborn child.

A fresh set of tears fell from my eyes. The last time he came in he had fun kicking the @#%$ out of me. I had grabbed and held onto my protruding belly as he kicked me, something cracked as he did so. He was still yet to notice my stomach. He raped me and still he didn't notice. I guess all he cared about was getting his jollies.

I just wanted to sleep. I closed my eyes. My mind drifted back to Josh.

I missed Josh. I wanted him to hold me, for him to wrap his strong, warm arms around me and tell me everything would be OK. I wanted to look into his eyes... so the whole world would just fade away. I wanted to do so many things with him.

The door creaked open. I started to cry harder. Light shone into the room.

"Aww... still so broken," he said slowly walking toward me. I tried my best to bring my knees up. He kneeled down in front of me. More and more tears ran down my face.

"It's been awhile since I've pleased you," he whispered into my ear. He untied my feet and ran his hand up my leg. I found my voice.

"Pleased me?! PLEASED me?!! You just please yourself, Mark! Don't you ever notice?! Every time I just lay there. Crying. Silently cursing myself for putting up with you. I cringe and I feel sick to my stomach," my voice was weak, but still held some strength.

I looked over at him, my eyes clouded with tears. He looked a little confused and hurt by my words. His eyes changed back to the cold hard stare I always knew. He gripped my hair in his hands. He pulled me into a standing position. I let out a cry of pain. My legs felt weak. He noticed my stomach for the first time.

"You've gained some weight. Now you're just a fat, ugly slut," he spat at me. Tears rolled down my face as I pushed him away as hard as I could. He fell against the wall, his mouth fell open in shock.

"FAT??!!! YOU THINK THIS IS FAT?" I shouted in question pointing to my stomach. "Guess again, @#%$. It's not fat. I'm five months pregnant. And before you can say anything the baby is YOURS!" I screamed into his face.

I tried to run only to fall to the ground. I turned to look at Mark who was still sitting against the wall. I curled into a ball and started to sob. I started to shake. Fear. I'm never getting out of here. Next thing I knew he was kicking me again.

"LIAR! You lying bitch!" he hollered. I winced at every kick. He stopped kicking me. I laid there.

Weak.

Tired.

"Bastard," I whispered angrily. "You hurt my baby," I continued weakly, tears streaming down my face.

"I don't care Erin. Even if the baby is mine... I still wouldn't give a flying @#%$," he snarled. I heard a click. Looked up to see a gun pointed at me. Oh, my god! I started to shake again.

"You don't deserve to live. As I've said so many times before. You're worthless," he said, anger set in his eyes.

"NO!!!" I recognized Josh's voice. He hurled himself in front of me.

"You keep your @#%$ filthy hands off her!" Josh yelled in Mark's face.

"Well, well, well. Look at this. Twinkle toes decided to join the fun," Mark said sarcastically.

"Who the @#%$ do you think you are?" Josh yelled.

"I'm the guy holding the gun," he answered, sneering at him.

"Josh..." I whispered weakly. He leaned down.

"Oh, Erin, I've been everywhere trying to find you," Josh said looking over me with his concerned-filled eyes. His hand came up and softly caressed my swollen face.

"Aww... isn't this the sweetest scene ever. I could just cry," Mark said sarcastically, shoving Josh away from me. He got back up and came back to shield me.

"Get away from her!" Mark shouted in Josh's face. He stepped back and held the gun up to Josh's head. "Or I'll kill you," he continued.

My eyes widened.

"For the past week, she has said YOUR name when she sleeps. I know she has feelings for you. So now you die," Mark said.

"No," I whispered trying to stand up. "No!" I said a little louder. I got up and pushed Josh away with all the strength I had left and he went tumbling to the ground. A shot rang through the air. A split second after, another shot went off. I was lying on the cold ground again. I saw Josh crawling over to me.

"Oh, god!" he exclaimed as he lifted me into his lap.

It hurt.

I placed my hands on my stomach. I felt something warm. I moved my hand up to my face. Blood. I got shot? I didn't even feel it. Josh started to cry.

"It hurts," I said weakly as he untied my wrists. My eyes felt heavy.

"Erin... my angel. Everything is gonna be OK," he whispered through his tears holding me close. I looked over and saw Lonnie standing over Mark with a gun in hand.

"Lonnie, can you call an ambulance?" Josh said his voice shaking.

"On it's way," Lonnie answered.

"I'm so cold," I said looking into Josh's eyes. His eyes were red and tears still falling from his crystal blue eyes. He quickly took off his over shirt and put it over me.

"MY BABY!" I cried clutching onto my stomach. I started to shake uncontrollably.

"Everything is gonna be just fine angel," Josh said softly against my ear.

"Just don't close your beautiful eyes," he continued his voice thick with sadness. My eyes were too heavy to keep open.

"ERIN!" Josh shouted. I heard sirens as I slipped into darkness.
