~Chapter 9~

Erin and Michelle walked together to the journalism room right after school had ended for that day. As they walked in, they were greeted by a
bunch of faces and smiles.

Matt had the group’s attention by telling some silly blonde joke. Matt let out a surprised yelp as Ray leaned over and smacked him in the back
of the head.

Erin grinned as she sat down at a desk at the front of the classroom.

“Okay, is everyone here for the meeting?” she asked as she scanned the room for a face that was not present.

Mrs. Watkins, the teacher who was sponsoring the group came in with tuna sandwiches for the group. Everyone grinned as they were served a
snack.

Greg held up his tuna sandwich and began to sniff it. He wrinkled his nose as he inspected the inside of the sandwich.

“Don’t you think the carnival committee deserves better food than this? I mean, we are the most important people in school right now!” He
commented very sarcastically.

Tina giggled as she threw a potato chip in his direction. Greg quickly ducked, avoiding the flying chip.

“Okay, so we need to plan the different booths we’ll have there,” interrupted Erin as she tried to get everyone to focus.

“I’m going to be in charge of the pie throwing booth! People will have to try to hit me in the face,” said Greg as he nominated himself.

The whole room laughed as Frankie yelled out, “hell yeah Raposo, I’ll be the first in line to throw a pie at your face!”

“Now, now, you just might loose my vote for your election if you nail me in the face!” warned Greg as he shook his finger at Frankie.

Frankie just grinned. “Well I don’t know who else you’ll vote for then, because I’m the only one who is running for student body president!”
Frankie’s chest puffed up with confidence as he looked around the room.

“Okay, so we have pie throwing, a dart throwing, a relay race, we need probably two more stations,” said Erin as she listed off the different
booths they had planned.

“I know,” said Michelle thoughtfully. “Let’s have a fortune telling booth. That would be fun!”

The rest of the group agreed it was a good idea.

As Michelle walked out into the parking lot she skimmed the area for Jesse. She smiled as she saw him leaning against his car. She walked up
to him and gave him a soft peck on the lips.

“Ready to go sweat heart?” He held her tightly as he spoke to her.

As Jesse pulled up to the side of Michelle’s house he looked at her out of the corner of his eye. Instead of just kissing her goodbye like
usual, he stopped where he was and turned to face her.

Michelle frowned at the solemn look on his face.

“Is something wrong Jesse?” She asked in fear.

Jesse gave her a serious look. “No,” he said finally. “Michelle, I’ve never felt this way about any other girl. I’ll be honest, before I met
you; I was a real jerk with girls. But Michelle………….I love you. I know it’s real. I truly am head over heels in love with you. Please
believe me. I’ve never said this to any other girl before, and I am scared to death of scaring you off. Do you love me too?”

Jesse bit his lip as he awaited Michelle’s reply.

“Oh Jesse!” she exclaimed as she threw her arms around him. “I love you too! I love you so much! You have no idea of what kind of an impact
you have made in my life! I couldn’t even imagine my life with out
you!”

Jesse looked up at her sadly. “ I just wish you could actually hear me say that I love you.”

Michelle just smiled back at him. “Just seeing your lips say those words is enough for me.”

Michelle walked up to her room and fell onto her bed. She kept imagining Jesse tell her that he loved her, over and over again. She was so
happy to finally live a normal life. She had been isolated in her other ‘special’ schools for a long time and had to work VERY hard to be
‘normal’. For once in her life she had a great group of friends, a boy who loved her, and she was happy. She wasn’t going to let ANYTHING take
that away from her.
