"[Quintin] did some wonderful teaching with the beginning students. By the Thursday night Coffee House, his students were not only performing, but had composed their own material!"
I have a number of different workshops available.
Please e-mail to QuintinStephens@aol.com or call 918-366-9002 for information and scheduling.
- 22 Ways to Shortenin' Your Bread
"22 Ways to Shortenin' Your Bread" is designed for beginner to intermediate level players and teaches how to create instant harmony with yourself with little or no effort. This workshop emphasizes what are called "double-stop" harmonies and is a natural next step for those players using single string melodies on the first string of their dulcimer.
- Right Hand Rhythm
The second workshop is an adaptation of a Robert Force workshop teaching right-hand strumming techniques and learning various rhythms such as Latin, Traditional, Blues, Pop, and Rock and Roll. For beginner/Intermediate players.
- Fingerpickin' Under the Porch Light
My third workshop is a fingerpicking workshop that teaches one of my own tunes called "Under the Porch Light." Utilizing this song, players are introduced to non-repetitive-pattern fingerpicking while expanding their repetiore with a fun, bouncy tune. For intermediate players.
- Two-Handed Tapping Techniques
This workshop let's the strumming hand in on the fretting fun by using the fingers of that hand to perform additional hammer-on and pull-off tones. For intermediate to advanced players comfortable with hammer-ons and pull-offs.
I am also available to teach just about any other dulcimer workshop you might need -- anything from absolute beginner to fingerpicking and flatpicking to full chord style and just about anything else. If you have a hole in your workshop schedule, I can help you fill it!
