Des Moines Area Suzuki Institute - Orchestra Program

The DASI Orchestra Program is run by the Des Moines Area Suzuki Institute. Made up of second to eighth graders, the Orchestras give two or more concerts each year. Students in the Orchestras are dedicated to making music together, as is their conductor, Michelle Senger. The DASI Orchestra Program is a great program for young string players to learn from and grow with.

The DASI Orchestras are open to string students that have begun reading music and are in book one all the way through book six or seven. The groups are assigned by ability. Ages generally run from six to thirteen or fourteen. Depending on enrollment and the needs of the students enrolled, the DASI program offers three different groups: a beginning orchestra for students that are just beginning to read and are in book one, Sinfonia, for students that have some orchestra experience and are in books one, two and three and Philharmonia, for students in books four and beyond. Placement in the orchestras is by teacher recommendation, and seating is by director's discretion.
