Yeah, the heading's probably more interesting
than the actual bio. Well, my name is Patrick Rivers. I was born and raised
in Brunswick, Georgia to Bill and Gwen Rivers. I'm 18 years old and I'm
a Senior at Glynn Academy High School. I've got a horrible case of Senioritis
this year. Believe it or not, I'm usually very picky and strict with school
but it's been pretty rough this year. Senioritis really hits some people
bad and I happen to fall into that category. Now I'm not blaming everything
on my Senioritis, of course it's all my fault because like many other lazy
Seniors, I just haven't been trying very hard this year.
I'm in a band currently under the name of Scooby-Don't.
I'm a pretty easy-going kind of guy. I like to sit outside on a nice day
and strum a few chords on my Fender DGsomething Acoustic guitar. Guitar
is a big part of my life. Heck, music in itself is a big part of my life.
I don't really know what I'd do without it. I would love to play music
for a living one day but I don't really see that happening. But I'll definetly
keep it around as a hobby. I used to play the E flat Alto Saxophone in
the Middle School Band but I gave up band in high school in order to take
4 years of Spanish. I can play a little bit of piano too. I hope that one
day I can meet a girl that shares my love for music....well, I hope I can
meet her and hold onto her.....there's a story behind that statement but
I'm not telling it right now.
I like to study theology and philosophy. World
religion is really interesting to me. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I think it's the greatest thing since fried
rice. A lot of people say that we're a cult but they're wrong and they
don't know what they're talking about. A lot of people think that Mormons(as
we're commonly referred to) don't believe in Christ or His teachings or
anything. Well, let's just say this: they're wrong. The people that DO
know what we're about usually ask me if I'm going to move to Utah. Now,
let me ask you this....If you were Catholic, would you want to move to
the Vatican?(and if you are Catholic, you can answer this question too)
Even though I'm LDS, I like studying other religions. I find a lot
of common beliefs in Buddhism. I like to think of Buddhism and Zen and
all that jazz as a philosophy, simply because it teaches basic principles
of living a good life. Yeah, there's religious stuff in Buddhism, but I
ignore it and take in the principles. I do that with most religions. I
try to keep an open mind when it comes to religion, some people believe
in certain words on paper so strongly that they miss other words that give
it an entirely different meaning when you put it all together. I try to
respect all religions, even though I may not believe in them.
Well, I've said a few things about myself and
for now, I think I'll leave it at that.
