Cagayan de Oro city has always been known as the “City of Golden Friendship”. It features beautiful tourist spots and boasts its friendly and hospitable people. it is also proud to have been included at the WOW Philippines featuring the Cagayan River White Water Rafting and the Divisoria Night Café.
Started last August of year 2003, Night Café has evolved as one of
the major attractions in Cagayan de Oro City. Both visitors and local
residents enjoy the various food items being sold at affordable prices and
very lively ambiance.
Night Café has been Mayor Vicente
Emano’s concept that is patterned after the street cafes in Singapore, Paris and
other European cities which he visited last year. Every Friday and
Saturday, the northern section of Divisoria is blocked from the vehicular traffic to give way to more than 100 stalls of concessionaires
who serve food items ranging from banana cues to elaborate dishes like beef
or chicken rice toppings. The spaces are rent-free. Concessionaires only pay the electrical consumption charges. This has been Mayor
Emano’s way of helping enterprising individuals to avail of the spaces
with little required capital. Every Saturday night, different bands play
different types of music thus making an added attraction to the place.
Hence, people from all walks of life especially families, patronize the
Night Café since the atmosphere is very wholesome at a cost affordable to
everyone.
Conclusively, Night Café is now becoming a famous “sight and place” to visit and it has even been attracting many tourists, both local and foreign. As a result, the city is generating additional income from this project.
