THE TEN YEARS OF THE MELFEST BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL!!!!

The summer resort town of White Lake, N. C. was the venue for the first MelFest Bluegrass Festival in 1999. Such popular bluegrass bands as The Lost and Found, Carolina Road, The Country Gentlemen, The Steep Canyon Rangers, The Grass Cats, Al Batten and the Bluegrass Reunion, and Constant Change performed at the two-day festival. MelFest was cancelled as a result of bureaucratic action by the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for alleged wetlands violations. It is unlikely that the festival will be held again unless MelFest fans make their intentions known. Please contact the Chamber of Commerce and/or the Town of White Lake at the links below.
