Top TensI hope to finish this soon but for now we just have eight.
|
#1Cliff Burton (Metallica)
Cliff Burton was the best bass player because he revolutionized the way and sound of the bass guitar. using Saturation and Destortion he fabricated the way hard Metal riffs are played. He used the most beautiful guitars like ESP and Richumbacer. If you don't believe me, listen to a copy of the bass solo Anestiasia (Pulling Teeth) and see the real Cliff at his finest. |
#2 Chris Squire
Chris Squire played with the legendary band Yes. He started the concept of lead bass and introduced technicality into the world of bass. With Yes he played extremly long songs some being twenty minutes long, some of them with up to twenty key bass riffs. Again if you don't believe me listen to the song "Round About". |
#3 John Entwisle
John Entwisle played for one of the legendary bands: The Who. He started with wicked bass lines and fills like "My Generation". He was the root influence to many of todays good bass players. |
#4 Flea
Flea plays for the modern band Red Hot Chili Peppers. He is one if not the greatest bass players of the present times. With his (and the bands) crazy stunts and antics like there show where all they wore was a sock on their members, it's no wonder he's got some of the most technical riffs of todays bass. |
#5 John Paul Jones
Playing with one of the greatest bands of all time, Led Zeppelin, he needed to be one of the greats with an all star line up like Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Bonham, you have to be great. And he fullfiled that need as the rhythme section for Led Zeppelin. He is one of today's biggest bass roots. He could also play guitar in some songs and can be seen with his triple guitar, (acoustic, twelve string, and six string). |
#6 Rex Brown
Rex Brown played with the legendary industrial metal band , PanterA. He played a five string Spector and made great five string riffs. With his great backing vocals to Philip Anselmo he proved to be a great back up vocalist. He also proved to be a great screamer along with his band mates. |
#7 Geddy Lee
Geddy Lee played with the greatest Canadian band "Rush" and played in a Led Zeppelin tribute band with his band mates from Rush. He plays great bass and key boards while he sings the lead vocals. His voice may not apeal to all but to sing like he does and be constintly playing a mixture of two instruments is pretty amazing! |
#8 Steve Harris
The founder of the legendary heavey metal band "Iron Maiden", he wrote some of their greatest songs. Of Course he played with his fingers and lightening fast with them on a vast variety of hard riffs, like that of John Paul Jones, one of his major influences. He displayed a major amount of talent in songs that he wrote like "Aces High" and "Number of the Beast". Definetly one of todays most influential players. |
#9 Phil Lynott
Phil Lynott was the first to bring poetry into Rock 'n Roll. He was the lead singer and bass player for the band "Thin Lizzy" who werte a big band in there time. Again being the singer and bass player is difficult, and he did it extremely well. Tragically he o'd and ended his career on heroin. |
#10 Jason Newsted
Filling in for the legend Cliff Burton is no easy task, but Jason Newsted was the man for the job. He quikly adapted to learning Cliff's old riffs and perfected the songs that MetallicA would use on their tours. He started the new wave MetallicA, when they started the album "...And Justice For All". They later did other albums some being among the top MetallicA albums. In 2002, Jason quit MetallicA due to "not enough time with his family" and "physical hard shios he endured through playing with MetallicA". He went on and made the poor band "Voivod" and is now touring with Ozzy Osbourne. |
