This year hundreds of students from around the state of Texas competed on January 10, 2003 for a chance to be a part of the Texas All-State Choir. However, it doesn't start with just state competition. Thousands of Texas student musicians must go through four rounds of tough auditions to become an All-Stater. Most start preparing during the summer and get ready for their first competition in September. As you know the Edinburg North Choir has always been able to produce All-Staters every year. We have had 65 All-State choir members so far since the school opened. This Year we had eight choir members make the All-State Choirs and they are :
Erica Aldape-Senior-Mixed Choir
Daniel Davila-Senior-Mixed Choir
Jessica Flores-Senior-Mixed Choir
Humberto Herrera-Senior-Tenor/Bass Choir
Joaquin Lozano-Junior-Tenor/Bass Choir
Katiuska Lozano-Junior-Mixed Choir
Micaela Salas-Sophomore-Mixed Choir
Rita Sanchez-Junior-Treble Choir
These choir students have been preparing for seven months for this distinction and the hard work and dedication that they have produced has certainly paid off. In February, they had the honor of going to the Texas All-State Music Convention and rehearse for the major concert on the 14th of February 2003.
