[Rain Theory]

GLOW
"Rain Theory"
Fallen Ember (GLOW001)
Release Date: April 20, 2004

Our attention was grabbed by this St. Louis, Missouri act when we got ahold of the five CD State Of Synthpop 2003 compilation and first heard their song "Gabriel." After listening to clips of some other songs available as free MP3 downloads at Amazon.com, it became apparent to us that Glow was an act we needed to pay attention to. The release of their first album, Rain Theory, in the spring of 2004 proved to us how true that was. Vocalist Brooke Edwards seemingly effortlessly glides through the songs on this disc, ranging from the angrily rocking "Single", to the haunting "The Wind That Shakes The Barley", to the gentle "Another Day", and the sweetly innocent "Smiling Down On You." The band's true strength comes from their versatility; they are able to use both electronics and guitars and utilise the strengths of both in creating their material. This is easily one of the best CDs we acquired in 2004, and we're eagerly awaiting new material from the group.
