W-Day: The Rush to Satisfaction

Despite our persistent prayers, Scrib and I were horrified at the scheduling of my chorus tech rehearsal on the evening of November 29th, at 6:30 pm. This horror was due to the fact that the Jimmy Eat World/Tenacious D/Weezer concert was slated to to place on the same night. Well, Addie and I were determined to at least catch a glimpse of the =W= rocking hardcore. So the tickets were bought.

Unfortunately, the venue chosen was the piece-of-crap Family Arena, where they viewed the array of safety pins and buttons on my purse as a dangerous arsenal of weaponry.

Luckily, we were able to overcome this slight setback and we arrived at our seats (next to Scrib and Lizzy) right at the break between Tenacious D and Weezer. Even more luckily, Scrib knew some losers that left after only one Weezer song, but who had front row seats. Four of them. Now when I say "front row", I mean the row right before the mosh pit starts. So anyway, we were able to clearly see the =W= perform in all their glory.

I must comment on the lovely lighting effects throughout the show. Only In Dreams was almost surreal, with shadows, smoke, and purple lights. I'm not even going to mention they only played one Pinkerton song, but it's okay, it was sweet anyway.

That's pretty much it. It was a good night. Definitely worth the half tank of gas I spent on it. I hope to see the D and JEW someday.
