QUAL
ARE NO MORE! Yup,
Qual have split. It's been a couple of years now, a few good gigs, a
few shit gigs.
Most of them shit
though.
If you're wondering
why... We can't be arsed anymore.
Musical differences
meant that too many styles turned us into an Emo band, and that means
a bloody-death to the strongest of bands.
With that realisation
leaving us a bit fucked-off we picked up our instruments and went
home.
Jon and Chris have
started a funk-goth band, whilst Dan and Dave are carrying on getting
wasted laughing at the thought of a funk-goth band.
Ah, the banter.
I'm off to Sainsbury's
now to get some bread.
ROCK!

"WHO THE FUCK KNOWS?" |
|
|
Hmmmm....
news....
"News"
"news",
"news, news, news"
"news"
"news, news, news, news,
news"
"news, news, news"
....................
You know... The hardest
thing about being in this fucking band is thinking of some jubbin'
news to put on here.
The only news I can
think of is that we're playing the Riverside Festival again in
July. We played there last year and have been promised a later slot
this time round. I guess they wanted the stage to last a little longer
this year.....
Hmmm, maybe we should
try not to fall through the back support this time.
Sorry,
I don't know what I was thinking as I wrote the last comment.
I should probably try
and stop touching my penis when I'm typing stuff, it's a bit of a
distraction.

AMAZING NEWS! |

AMAZING NEWS!
Not really.
There's absolutely shit-all to say
to be honest, and I am being honest.
I am you know.
Got some gigs, blah blah.... We
expect to see you there.... Blah blah.
That's about it.
No, really, that's it.
Fuck off.

IT'S SNOWING... |
|
...Like
a complete bastard. Great. Like England
needs to be any bloody colder.
New gig at the
Man On The Moon in Cambridge on March 1st. As usual we have no idea
who we're playing with.
The gig
Upstairs at The
Garage
is nearing, so make sure you've got your party boots ready. Failing
that, just turn up. Also, look out for the people standing around
wearing identical clothing trying to sell you mind-altering drugs*.
These drugs - which come in varying strengths- will turn you
into a raging horny beast, and when wearing the free pair of goggles
supplied, everyone seems strangely attractive, rather like you're a
particularly un-picky dog eyeing-up a tramps leg.
Just look for the sign saying "Bar".
A
ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY!
ONLY
AVAILABLE THURSDAY
27th FEBRUARY
UPSTAIRS AT THE GARAGE*
*Side
effects include pissing your pants, vomiting, singing shit songs far
too fucking loud, getting punched in the mouth for being too loud,
standing up just becomes "hassle, and unnecessary use of 'love
energy'", drowsiness, thinking you're charming the pants off someone
when you actually just look like a tosser, waking up with a headache
and less money than you went out with - also known as "some cunt's
nicked my fuckin' money" syndrome.
*Not
actually true |

HAPPY NEW YEAR! |
|
Well,
Qual got nicely pissed on New years eve at the Garage in London. A
pretty good night all-round. A few gigs coming up in the new year
including The Verge in Kentish Town and Upstairs at The Garage. We
should have a new EP to give out to people, recorded in Dan's garage
at the end of last year (before it burnt to the ground) once
Dave sorts his heap-of-shit computer out. We'll probably head off to
Feet first after the Gig on the 7th at the Verge as-per-usual, so feel
free to come along and make us feel loved, if not slightly more
popular...
That is all.

|
Well,
there's no real news at the moment, got some gigs coming up, which
will be posted on the site soon. The band are slowly getting used to
living together in one small flat, with no food and the ever present
scent of dead animals wafting round the rooms like a musty fart.
Never mind, Chris will move out soon.
Qual a have
got some new songs in the pipeline, which we hope to play at a gig
some time in the near future.

After going to a studio with the intention of recording two tracks -
and then coming out at the end of the day with four -Qual actually
have something recorded that they're happy with. The songs are:
-
Dirty pages
-
Just woke up
-
Poverty Jet set
-
Desperately seeking
A
studio recording could never capture the energy of one
of their live gigs, but they give you a good idea of the songs alone....
If you would like a copy
send your address to
nick_knm@yahoo.co.uk and we'll send
you one.
This also means that the old demo
with Losing & Slowly forgetting is no longer being used, due to the
fact that it sounded shit (yes, we did know).

"Remember, you only
really have fun if you get hurt"
Qual
rocked Stamford on Saturday at the Riverside
festival. We've been asked back next year, and we've been told we'll
be playing a later slot; Pretty lucky since we destroyed the back
support of the stage, after Jon, Dave, and half the drum kit smashed
through it at the end of the set. Still, Chris managed to find some
time to get naked and wade for his trousers in the river. There was moshing for every song, which we like to see, and if
you were there and missed out on the free Qual t-shirts, then you
should have moshed harder! There's still hope though..... If you've got a
few quid lying around, and your life feels incomplete without a Qual
t-shirt (you know it does), you should be able to order one from
this site at some point soon...... if we can be bothered to sort it
out. Photos we're taken too, which should be on the
Riverside Festival site, and hopefully this one in
the near future.

Qual
rocked out at The Square in Harlow last Saturday. Dave managed to
get back from France just in time to play the gig, confusing a lot
of people because Qual were "using a different drummer than they
used in the sound check". There were a few guitar-related problems
towards the start of the set but they were overcome quickly and so
the rest of the set went down nicely.
Not much
else really......
A few more gigs lined
up, check the
Tour
Dates page for details.
We've just got some
photos done of the band, check out the photos page, and have a look.
*Plus*
We're going back into the studio on
June 10th to record another demo, so keep your ears open. We haven't
yet made a final decision on the songs to be recorded, so if you
want to make a suggestion go to the
guestbook.

Qual are
playing the Met Lounge, Peterborough 22nd Feb,
so make sure you're there. Qual are on at
10:30ish, I think. Should be a good one. There's Coach travel if you
need it, see the tour dates page for info or contact
Nick Cave.
Last Friday
(15th)'s gig at Club Traxx was, for many reasons, sub-standard Qual
.... mostly because the of crappiest sound EVER to be heard at a gig.
Maybe next time they should think about getting a loaf of bread to do it or
something. Good moshing all round though, a few injuries, but hey,
that's the way it goes. Dave's improv song 'Happy Clappy' went down
well too........... Might have to miss out that one next time though,
due to it being completely pointless and shit.
