It's hard to find the words to describe my first Patty show of the year (boy, it's been a long wait this summer). You guys and all the concert reviewers have all brilliantly described what makes Patty great - her focus on the music. I thought Patty sounded a bit hoarse when she spoke, but it didn't affect her singing at all. She sounded amazing.
The set list was pretty much like you guys have described in the past. She sang Cheap Whisky in the bluegrass set and The Trouble With The Truth as her one encore song.
Not having been to Indian Ranch before I wasn't sure what type of venue it was or how the crowd would be. When we got there there were tons of campers and lots of folks wearing concert t-shirts from other artists and I was afraid that maybe this was a venue all the locals came to and there wouldn't be a lot of real Patty fans. I was wrong. This was a fantastic crowd. They seemed to know the songs and really appreciate every single note Patty sang.
They did clap a few times during Harlan in the wrong spots, but I can forgive them because of the standing ovation she received after finishing it. She astounded the ground with her heartfelt rendition of the song. My roommate has never been able to hear Patty like this live and gained a whole new appreciation for her.
She seemed to be enjoying the crowd and this was her fourth day in a row so I would have understood if she were worn out. It was also an afternoon show and lucky for us, the weather was perfect.
The venue was by a lake and the seats were pretty much shaded by beautiful trees. I'd like to come back here again and camp!
