The following is what I wrote myself about Patty. Do not take this word for word off of my site!

When Patty Ramey was fourteen years old, she and brother Roger paid a visit to the office of Porter Waggoner. Patty played songs that she had written and Porter was more than impressed. Porter introduced her to legend, Dolly Parton, and invited Patty and Roger to stay the weekend in Nashville with him. Patty learned about the music business, and importantly, makeup tricks from Dolly ;-) backstage at the Ryman Auditorium.

Patty soon after joined to Wilburn Brothers to be their female singer, leaving Nashville behind. During her time with the Wilburn Brothers, she met Terry Lovelace, the drummer in the band. She fell in love with Lovelace and the two went to Terry's hometown in North Carolina when Patty was 18 and got married.

In the 1980's, Patty got word that Nashville was looking more tradional country artists. She contacted brother Roger and together, the two created a five song demo for Patty. Roger managed to get her in a meeting with MCA Nashville records executive, Tony Brown. By 1985, Patty Loveless was the newest artist at MCA Nashville. Although she had begun to make her dream come true, her marriage was beginning to go downhill, and it ended in a divorce.

After the divorce, Patty Lovelace became Patty Loveless. The self titled Patty Loveless was released on October 1st, 1987 and Patty was on her way. Before too long, Patty's second release on MCA, If My Heart Had Windows, was released on January 25, 1998. The cd produced her first top ten (If My Heart Had Windows) and top five (A little bit in love) hits. On June 11, 1988, Patty's dream to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry came true. She was given the decision of who would induct her into the Opry. She chose long time pal Porter Waggoner to do the induction. Not long after the induction, Patty released her third album Honky Tonk Angel on October 1st, 1988. The cd produced her very first number one single (Timber Im Falling In Love) and on April 9, 1991, the cd was her first to be certified GOLD!

In between the midst of all the sucess happening, Patty fell in love with her co producer Emory Gordy Jr. The two had met at the very beginning of her career, and he had been avidly involved in her albums. The two snuck away on February 6, 1989, to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and eloped. The two have been married since.

Patty released two more albums on MCA Nashville..On Down the Line, and Up Against My Heart. The two were merely successful, but Patty and her management felt that her albums could be more successful. MCA Nashville had been signing on so many new female artists, Patty was being left in the cold. So Up Against My Heart was Patty's last album on MCA Nashville. Of course, MCA released Patty Loveless Greatest Hits after Patty left the label..a last attempt to make money off of her.

Patty became the newest member of the Sony Nashville family. Before she could begin to record her new album, though, she had vocal trouble. Her doctor informed her she had a leaking blood vessel on her vocal chords. The album and touring came to a screeching halt and she was needing immediate suregery. She communicated with her husband through morse code, which Emory taught her. She was able to go back to the studio on her 36th birthday and begin to record her first album on Epic records. Only What I feel was released on April 20, 1993. The album was her first to go platinum and produced her biggest hits yet.

Patty released When Fallen Angels Fly August 23, 1994, not knowing how successful this album would be. The album also went platinum and won her many major awards...mainly the 1995 CMA Album of the year (of course we all knew she would win!) She followed that album up with my personal favorite, The Trouble with the Truth. Not long after releasing it, Patty was crowned the 1996 CMA Female Vocalist of the year, as well as the ACM female vocalist of the year, twice in a row. During the success of Trouble with the Truth and When Fallen Angels Fly, Emory was struck with pancreatitis and was hospitalized. He became severly ill and Patty rushed out to Nashville to be with him, delaying the recording of the upcoming album. After Emory got through a successful surgery, Long Stretch Of Lonesome. Although most singles were not radio-friendly, critics praised the album. Since Long Strech Of Lonesome, Patty has released Classics, a greatest hits collection of all her sony releases. On August 29,2000, she released "Strong Heart", her eagerly anticipated new album (which in my opinion, IS AWESOME!). On June 26th, 2001, much to the delight of her fans, she released her first Bluegrass Cd, "Mountain Soul".
