Meet Rohn

Rohn got his first taste of music singing along with his mom's old 45's in the late 70's. He started writing poetry in high school, but later found songwriting to be more rewarding. Using the moniker "Shake", he began his musical journey. His musical interests took on many incarnations until he and friend, Dylan, formed Ceramic Junk Monkeys in 1997. The Ceramic Junk Monkeys' motto was "Nothing is true, everything is permitted," a bit of wisdom borrowed from Hashishan. Rohn juggled his time between recording with CJM and performing with another band, Just For Kicks (JFK). He obtained a great deal of musical knowledge while managing a record store in his home town of Troy. That experience also allowed him the opportunity to introduce his music to the local scene. The Ceramic Junk Monkeys, to date, have released an EP entitled Do You Dream? and two full length CDs entitled Where's Noel? and Mad, Mad World. In 2002, Rohn and Dylan created The Nobs, a harder-edged, more punk sounding band that found humor in the wicked and bizarre. The name was a joke that sprung from the multitudes of band names beginning with "The" and ending with "s." They released one album entitled Mimicking Insects before hanging it up. Rohn has since turned his focus back to the Ceramic Junk Monkeys and leaves all doors open to pursue other projects such as Mirage. In 2004, Rohn and Dylan embarked on an ambitious new musical journey which will be taking them much farther than they had ever hoped to travel. The destination: Forever Maybe. Look for their first release, Loner Spy, coming soon. Whether it comes out through Agent NR KEY, Bad Ronald, Even Steven, His Analness, Hollywood, I-RON-I-C, Mr. Pistol, Monkeyshine, Ronaldo Rydehard, Shakespeare, Solitary Crab, Stanky Left-Hand Killa, StereO+, Vanilla Ron, or Wotro, music is a passion that will never fade for Rohn. From JFK to Mirage, from Ceramic Junk Monkeys to The Nobs, if it can be sung, he'll sing it, if it can be written, he'll write it. So if Rohn is the chef, and his music the stove, it's hot in the kitchen and the back burner's cold.

Rohn is Sandy's son.
