Michael Rado

A Harpist for all Occassions

Michael Rado is currently Principal Harpist with the San Francisco Opera Center, The Western Opera Orchestra, the Concord Pavilion Pops Orchestra and the Santa Rosa Symphony; he is also Second Harpist with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra. Michael has played each season with the San Francisco Opera since 1985, the San Francisco Ballet since 1986 and with the San Francisco Symphony from 1986 until 2000.
Current orchestra credits are the Paris Opera Ballet, the London Royal Ballet, the La Scala Ballet and American Ballet Theater. Michael has toured as Principal Harpist with the New York City Opera and served as soloist with the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, The Oakland Chamber Orchestra, The AIMS Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria, The Sacramento Symphony, and with Jeffrey Kahane and the Santa Rosa Symphony. He has recorded for television and movies at Skywalker Ranch, Lucas Studios since 1988.
Michael has recorded with the San Francisco Symphony, with the San Francisco Ballet and Opera orchestras. He has recorded Contemporary Chamber Music on Koch International label.
A faculty member of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 1984, Michael also teaches privately.

Michael Rado was managed by Columbia Artists from 1983 until 1993 and toured the United States and Canada in a harp duo with the late John Escosa.
