History

After two years of writing and brainstorming for a new project, in 1996 Peter Mulone (Wretched Sin, Stillborn, Scavenger) answered an ad for a guitar player Gary and through friends found bass player Scott Dussault. After a few jams, Peter was unhappy with the local talent but he struggled to keep playing. In 1998 while working at a service station, Peter met Erik Swanson (guitar) and Jordan Green (bass guitar), and the foundation of In Harm's Way was born. Having different influences in music such as Helloween, Gamma Ray, Angra, In Flames, At the Gates, Children of Bodom, Death, and Dream Theater helped to mold them together to create a music most easily labeled as power metal because of it's soaring vocals, emotional melodies and lightening fast technical riffs/solos, but it has some prog. in it and is much heavier than most power. Later, while working at a gym, Peter met a keyboard player Steve Surette who was interested in playing with them. The band was almost complete. Drummer lacking, they searched for a right fit until one day, Erik's sister introduced the band to Eric "Honk" Honkala (drums). The lineup was set. In one year, they recorded a nine-song demo, and played at Copperfield's, Chantilly, and Good Tymes. By late summer, disenchanted with no shows at practice, Steve left the band to play cover songs for High Five. Peter still believed in the music and in the band, but in August, 2000, Jordan and Honk had an opportunity to work touring with the Ozzfest 2000 festival, and quit the band, leaving Peter's dream in taters. After two years, the band with so much promise and talent decided to reform. With founding core members Erik, Jordan and Peter on the same track and once again lacking a drummer, Peter called upon the best drummer he had ever met, Margasa, to be the beast on the kit with many accomplishments, including a degree in drums from the California Institute of Music. Margasa brings tons of talent to an already formidable lineup. Just recently, the band acquired Jen Swanson (keyboards) who fills the sound to an already thunderous and powerful band.
