Heinz Tops Highveld’s Hot 30 Chart
9 July

Heinz Winckler’s debut single “Once In A Lifetime” has climbed to number one on Highveld Stereo’s Hot 30 chart. The Idols winner has emulated his UK counterpart Will Young by dislodging the mighty Eminem from top spot…

After only three weeks in the chart, Heinz’s “Once In A Lifetime” has garnered enough support to reach peak position on a station renowned for playing the best pop sounds around. A couple of weeks back, Will Young’s sophomore effort “Light My Fire” outshone Eminem’s latest “Without Me” to occupy the pinnacle of the UK Singles chart – Heinz has now done the same.

The song was added to Highveld’s playlist on Monday 17 June, the day after Heinz took the Idols crown, and quickly gained support. It debuted in the Hot 30 chart at number 8 that weekend, and climbed to number 2 a week later, settling in behind the first cut from Eminem’s third controversial record The Slim Shady Show. When Patrick Hayworth rounded up the station’s hottest tracks this past Saturday (6 July) between 6 and 9pm, Heinz ruled the roost.

The list of artists Heinz is ahead of is possibly the best measure of the tune’s popularity. The song – written by Norwegian songsmith David Eriksen (who's worked with S Club 7 and Hear'say) and produced by the accomplished Brian O'Shea – outperformed the latest from established pop giants like Britney Spears, Westlife, Ronan Keating, Celine Dion and many more.

The song is also faring well on Highveld’s Top 8 @ 8, and was in third place (behind Eminem and Shakira) in the Friday 5 July edition of that daily hit list. According to BMG, “Once In A Lifetime” has now officially reached double-Platinum status, with 50 000 copies sold.
