Heinz remains Idols favorite

Cape Town - Nothing like the build up to the end of a competition. Seeing the final four contestants develop from unknown, often shy youngsters into well-known, self-assured Idols has been an arduous and often controversial process.

But who will be left out of the Idols finale on June 16?

According to the News24 poll this week, it will be Melanie Lowe. However, the poll has indicated that before. The 11th finalist to be added to the Idols competition is the afterthought that has managed to remain a strong contender.

Despite the tartan and leather fashion faux pas, despite not hitting the right notes, Melanie has retained her iron grip on the show.

That, however, hasn't endeared her to the voting public. She has managed to attain only 13% of the votes cast this week on News24.

The top three are Heinz, Bianca and Brandon garnering 32 percent, 28 percent and 25 percent, respectively, of the 4 447 votes cast.

Heinz favourite to win

Johannesburg-based bookie, Ricky Sin has confirmed that there is a flurry of interest for betting on eye-candy Heinz.

The odds for the remaining four are as follows:
Bianca - 16:10
Brandon - 16:10
Heinz - 2:1
Melanie - 20:1

So, if you put R10 down, you will get R26 (should your idol win). That is the R16 (you've won) plus the R10 (you bet initially).

The smaller the odds, the bigger the favourite.

So, Brandon and Bianca are the favourites at the moment although, according to Sin, the most money is on Heinz winning the competition.

Melanie looks set to say goodbye on Monday.
