Boston based musician Greg Potters is currently peforming the music from his first Demo/Album entitled "Independent Thinkers". The album was recorded in Sossong Studios in Cambridge, MA and Allied Studios in Boston, MA along with Producer Pat Johnson. This work can be described as a melodic concoction of blues, folk and rock. All instruments on "Independent Thinkers" were performed by Potters. At 28, Greg is best known for his quick strumming acoustic, folk guitar and powerful vocal charge. He approaches each song with a warm, rythmic verse only to capture your attention with the chorus. To date, as we draw closer into 2005, Greg plans to re-enter the studio to begin work on a second release, yet to be named. While constantly performing, new songs have been born and Greg is looking forward to long nights in the studio paralelled with long nights in dimly lit bars and clubs playing to the masses.

January 10, 2003:
Today the airwaves are filled with an abundance of songs and the music “they” call rock & roll. In some instances, this music is nothing more than three chord playing, boy band emulating, one-hit wonders. Greg Potters is a refreshing change from the monotony, with his offbeat folk sound and poetry like lyrics. Filled with rhythmic chords and beats, you will be tapping your feet to the strum of his acoustic guitar and singing along with words that pervade the mind. Greg’s songs resemble the accounts of an aged storyteller who sings of lost love and the journey of life.
Originally a bass guitarist enveloped in the grunge and heavy metal scene, Greg’s journey changed when he met his acoustic guitar. As a mature and polished musician, Greg wanted to create an album that expressed his true inner-self, music that displayed his pilgrimage through life and exhibited hope for the future. This voyage is exposed through his first solo album, the appropriately titled, Independent Thinkers. It is refreshingly raw and will remind you of smoke filled nights at a small bar listening to untapped talent.
That unknown talent hits you hard with the first track entitled “Highway 77,” a lyrical folk tune that has a powerful feeling that grips hard and will not let go. “Highway 77” is representative of a young man’s struggle with his hopes and dreams, and his search for the woman to join him for the ride. The second track entitled “Distant Sea,” is a song about trying to push through the malaise that was created by life’s challenge. Greg really reaches his audience with these lyrics as he sings of lost dreams and the search for the woman who “feels my song and fills my soul.” His songs and album were inspired by and can be directly correlated with musicians from the past and the present. Greg’s music compares directly with the work of Bob Dylan and Jim Morrison in the terms of lyrical expression. These great artists are often categorized as poets, the same can be said for Mr. Potters. The rugged folk sound is similar to small jam bands like Less Traveled and Strangefolk, yet the solo effort creates a more passionate feeling. Take a chance on an album that transcends passion, feeling, and emotion, Greg Potters is destined for great things.
