Educational Background: B.A. in Art and Music, California State University Hayward, 1972; Junior College Lifetime Teaching Credential in Music; private study with Joseph Bacon, Roberto Torres, the late Jim Bertram, Guy Garfield-Horn, and the Ako Ito-Henri Dorigny Duo.

Philosophy: My performing background has been as a free lance musician playing venues that range from small cafes and restaurants to the concert stage. I have accompanied singers and flutists, and performed with keyboard instrumentalists. I have played with chamber orchestras as part of the ensemble. My teaching experience includes all levels of activity, such as after school programs for grade school children, adult recreational classes through local parks and recreation departments, private tutoring, and college classroom level teaching. My philosophy is "less is more." Since presently my private students include working adults with limited time, I have developed my own pedagogical approach to guiding students from beginning through advanced levels based on a serial program of muscular development. This approach has been tested for a number of years, and all of my students who have mastered the basic course have continued to enjoy their guitar playing independent of me.
I can arrange recording services for students through my association with Hollcroft Studios in the SF bay area.

Current Projects: Over the past ten years I have indulged my curiosity about guitar building and have built a few guitars based on entirely new concepts, differing in many respects from traditional models. I hope to continue in this direction, because I build mostly for my students who appreciate and recognize my achievement in this endeavor. I present my students twice a year in recital, hosted by one of the students.
