From the Southside of Chicago Jose fell in love with the sounds coming from his radio back in 1987 as a young teen. Sounds that he never heard before, these sounds were called House Music! 102.7 WBMX was the station, and everyone would listen to the sound of Farley Jackmaster Funk, Bad Boy Bill, Mickey Oliver, and Mike Wilson on Friday and Saturday Nights. Without this station many of today’s talented dj’s including Jose would never know the sound they call house. Since buying his first set of turntables in 1988, he has never looked back. Jose play’s funky house, up tempo disco, and banging’ techno.

“DJing has always been about having fun, and making everyone on the dance floor forget their problems, and enjoy the music. It makes me smile when I see everyone having a good time. It makes me feel good, when people from all races come up to me, and tell me what a wonder night they’ve had, or they have never heard anything like that or seen a person having so much fun behind the tables, that it made it an unbelievable experience for them. That’s what makes it worth for me.” Jose Zaragoza Since 1987 Jose played countless parties, and won many smaller competitions. “It was all in fun, I never really thought about traveling, or playing at the biggest place on this earth. I just never really know about all that stuff. It wasn’t that serious to me, I just had fun playing at smaller places and parties, the more intimate settings, the smaller crowds were into my stuff, and I really enjoyed more.” Jose Zaragoza

But things changed one night on a trip in New York. In 1999 Jose and few Friends went to Twilo to see basement jaxx. It was an experience he will never forget. “I had the greatest time there, I never really know that many people were into this scene We just didn‘t want the music to stop.”

Back home Jose started promoting himself harder then ever. Sending promo packs all over the world. The interest was there. Jose started Divine Disco Unit, a very talented group of dj’s. They have built a very good following, and are planning more events for the fall, and winter.

In Dec. 1999, Jose sends in a mix to Mixer Magazine, for their mix tape contest. In March 2000, Jose was informed that he had just won their contest.Since winning that contest in Mixer Mag, Jose hasn’t looked back. From playing to small crowds, to now playing to thousands, and playing in different states in the US, and also Canada. Jose’s mix cd’s are being played in different countries (Romania, Germany, Belgium, and Canada). As well as being played here in the states (Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, Texas, California, and New York). Jose’s programming skills, record selection, mixing skills, energy, and ability to play opposite ends of the spectrum have given him a chance to headline as well as play in different city in The States, as well as In Canada There is no stopping this man, this year he is concentrating on productions, working on tracks, and hoping to release them on the new Funktified Funk label, that he and a friend have started. The only way is up, and many people are starting to take notice.
