All four founding members ( Billy Hickey, Greg Mercer, Mike Battiste and Greg Fleming) were a part of other local bands before getting together in 1996 to form Timber. In June 2000 they gained Rick Hollet as the new lead guitarist in place of Greg Fleming who left to pursue his education, and in November 2000 Chris Sooley replaced Mike Battiste as the new bassist.

Timber have made some great accomplishments in the past  few years . One of their songs (Foundering) off of their debut album appeared on Jennifer Love Hewitts' TV show 'Time of Your Life'. Another one of their songs (Machismo) was featured on the T.V series 'Grosse Point'. They were also asked to be one of the mainstage showcasers at the 2000 East Coast Music Awards. This is an amazing honor for any up and coming Atlantic Canadian Group. They were recently (April) a 'featured artist' on www.kickinthehead.com .They also received a "top 5" award at mpulse.com which is a site that is dedicated to new music content.

Timber have gotten the chance to play for/ with many well know performers such as Great Big Sea, Cheap Trick, Kim Mitchell, Los Lobos , Chantel Kreviazuk, Blue Rodeo, Trooper, Big Sugar, The Moffatts, The Tea Party, Nelly Furtado, Michelle Wright, Tom Cochrane and The Northern Pikes.

Timber were also one of the main performers who played in front of tens of thousands of people at the New Years Eve Millenium celebrations in St. John's Newfoundland. These celebrations were watched by milllions of people world over.

They have a self titled (independent) album released and a second album  entitled "College Daze", both which have gotten excellent reviews. They are currently working on a 3rd cd. Timber have captured a very loyal fanbase here in Newfoundland and because of a recent cross Canada tour, they now have fans country wide which continues to grow everyday.
