They came out of no where. Three chipmunks with apparently superior intelligence rocketed on to the scene back in 1955 with their break through hit, The Witchdoctor. They made pop-culture history with their harmonic rendition of the Chipmunk Song, which has the distinction of being the most loathed holiday ditty ever recorded, with the possible of exception of the NKOTB’s Funky, Funky Christmas. After a 20-year hiatus, they exploded back into the public eye with their hit series, The Chipmunks. Edgy, clever, and irreverent, the show poked fun at the conventions of the music industry and proved that the boys were indeed "coming on stronger than ever before." But their popularity waned, and soon they found that fame carries a heavy price.
