78rpm percussionists on CD

As a service to other percussionists, I am offering a line of reference recordings, in compact disc format. These compact discs offer the modern percussionist the opportunity to experience the talents of the past masters of mallet-powered music. These historic recordings are being offered as a reference tool for students of mallet percussion, and are not commercial issues.

I spend long hours tracking down these materials and transferring them to compact disc. A few times a year I go on "buying trips", driving for long distances to excavate long-forgotten treasures from mallet percussion history.

Charges for these CDs cover the cost of the materials and postage, and any monies remaining go right back into obtaining more recordings. The educational value of these reference recordings cannot be overstated. They are indispensable to the modern percussionist.

When you purchase one of more of these CDs, you are helping to finance the creation of future percussion compilations. I must respectfully request, therefore, that you do not duplicate these CDs for your colleagues and friends. Instead, have them purchase their own copies through this site, and help to keep the ball rolling. I will be happy to track down historical recordings and do all of the preliminary work for you so that you can benefit from the educational value of these compact discs.

All CDs are compiled from records that have been purchased, cleaned, and transferred by me personally. Transfers given or traded to me by other enthusiasts on cassette tape or CD-R are never included in the Xylotopia compilations.

Each disc is $25.00 US postpaid, unless you buy two or more. Two CDs postpaid are $21.50 each, and three or more CDs are $19.99 each postpaid. Custom-order CDs are also available. For Custom CDs, there is a base cost of $10.00, plus $1.00 per song. A CD with three songs on it will cost you $13.00, plus a flat $4 for postage. Overseas customers will pay $5 postage. Songs from any of the discographies (with the exception of John Wright's Teddy Brown Discography) on the Xylotopia website are available for a Custom CD order. I have a further cache of recordings not yet listed that I will soon be posting. If you have WordPerfect, I can e-mail you the list.

Any questions? Would you like to place an order? Send me E-mail.
