* Home-made. Not available in stores…so don't go lookin' for it!
The biggest news this week is the return of Tina Arena, one of the most consistently successful artists in the history of this list.  Since 1996, she's had 9 Top Ten hits, two of which were No. 1's ("Live For The One I Love" and "Never [Past Tense]," with The Roc Project), and I can't count how many other Top 40 singles.  So, given her extensive list of charting songs, I decided it was about time for Greatest Hits, Vol 2, a follow-up to my also home-made The Greatest Hits.  They enter and re-enter at No.'s 1 and 2, respectively.  As well, she makes a notable appearance on the TrackList with "I'm Gone" (debuting at No. 40), which isn't technically a new song, but rather a holdover from 2001's Just Me.  I've decided to play it as a single because it seems like it'll be a while before we hear anything techincally "new" from her (save for that recently recorded duet with Zucchero).  But I can wait.  She's worth it. :)

Entering at No. 42 on the singles chart is Miss Britney Spears, with her cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative," from her forthcoming CD, Greatest Hits: My Prerogative.  Most '80s (and music) purists despise it, but I gotta tell ya, I'm diggin' it.  It's kitschy fun.  In an interesting side note, this is the second Bobby Brown cover to chart this year, following Play Featuring Aaron Carter's breezy, fun take on "Every Little Step," which topped out at a respectable No. 7.  Can Britney follow that line of success?  Or will I grow tired of "My Prerogative" before it even reaches the Top 20?  Only time will tell...

The only two other new entries on the TrackList are Kanye West's "The New Workout Plan" (No. 48) and Har Mar Superstar Featuring Holly Valance's "Back The Camel Up" (No. 50), and both are worth noting, for different reasons.  West's "Plan" is just an amazing single that truly shows off his amazing production skills...I love how it takes off in a whole different direction near the end, without sounding like some kind of unnatural interlude or outro.  Meanwhile, chubby, balding white dude R&B singer Har Mar Superstar scores his first-ever entry, thanks almost entirely to the brief presence of 2004 J-SKWD Queen Holly Valance.  It's one of three songs from his _ album featuring the Australian hottie, and is the one that features her most prominently...so it's the one that charts.  Her appearance on the official single, "DUI," however, may be brief, yet quite memorable.  In an electronically-altered high pitch, she's the other end of a short phone conversation Har Mar has.  At one point, she purrs, "I'm so wet, I have to get my wellies."  Ooh, baby.
