Millennium Membership Drive
At the 1999 convention, a special Millennium Membership Drive proposal was enacted. Locals may participate voluntarily, and our local voted to do so. During the month of July, 200, a person may join the AFM through participating locals for only $20. Normally, an applicant must pay the Federation initiation Fee of $65, the local initiation fee (ours remains at 45$), and at least one quarter of annual dues. For our local, this means that a new member must pay$148.75. In contrast, during this membership drive, a new member need pay only $20 to become an AFM member for the third quarter. Thereafter, they will pay regular annual dues. The local keeps the $20, does not pay Per Capita tax on these new members for the third or fourth quarters. This is a terrific deal , and we will be trying for as many new members as we can get, both here and in our new territory in Texas. Posters are going up, and ads will be taken to get the word out and promote this drive, but the most important communication will be word of mouth. Tell all your musician friends not to miss this opportunity. This is the time to join the American Federation of Musicians.
