The Adiemus Project
‘Adiemus’ is surely Karl’s major breakthrough into the
mainstream solo compositional world. Originally written for the ‘Delta
Airlines’ advert, the music captured the imaginations of so many people, an album
was demanded. Karl searched for a company who would be interested in keeping
the work (Songs of Sanctuary) as a whole, rather than simply the title track.
The rest, as they say, is history!!
The project was the product of a close collaboration between Karl Jenkins, who composed,
orchestrated and conducted the score, Miriam Stockley (pictured) who provided
the vast majority of the distinctive Vocals, Pamela Thorby who played the
recorder solo’s, and Mike Ratelidge who programmed the percussion. Mike left
the project after the first album to pursue his own interests outside of
music.
