me me me me me me me me me

So i figured that maybe people might actually want to know a little about the psycho girl with her rants and odd music. I don't know why. But it also gives me an excuse to talk about myself. And after all, isnt that the whole point of having a personal webpage? I'll start with just some basic questions I get asked (or the ones that i ask myself)

Bored? Do a google search for "elimeny" and see what pops up! see, aren't you glad I give out tips on how to stalk me? well dont fucking stalk me. it annoys the hell out of me.

Why I have this webpage...

First of all, let it be known that since we were freshmen in high school, my friends and I have always had webpages, for no other reason than to say what was going on with us, and to play with HTML. And I suppose this is no different. For me though, its more of an artistic outlet... i know it may not seem that way to anyone else, but for me, designing the images you see here as the background, or the headers, or the tables, etc... well, that is very relaxing for me. It's also a matter of convenience. Anyone who knows me at all knows I have moved all over, and if people want to keep up with what's going on with The Jessica, I can just send them over here, and they can see what's going on in my life. I know it may not seem like much to anyone else, but for some reason it means a lot to me. I am easily amused, and to be it is very intriguing to watch all these bland things i have just typed in HTML to come to life in pictures and colors and... okay, yeah, id better stop now! lol...

Where are you from?

GROAN.... I never know how to answer this question. So let me just clear it up right here, right now. At the moment, I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, and yes, I do plan to stay here for awhile, at the very least until I graduate from University of Cincinnati. I was born in North Hollywood, California. When I was six months old, we moved to an area north of Fort Worth, Texas. Then we moved further out from Forth Worth. Then we moved to Houston, Texas. Then we moved to another place in Houston, not far from where wed lived before (in fact, the same neighborhood). Then daddy got laid off, and he found a job in Cincinnati. I was 13 at the time. So we moved to an apartment complex in east Cincinnati, Ohio. Then we found a house in anderson township, east Cincinnati. Then my dad decided to change jobs again, and we moved to an apartment complex in north Dallas, Texas. Then we moved into a house in Plano, Texas, which is a fancy shmancy snotty suburb north of Dallas. Two years later, I moved back up to Cincinnati on my own. I lived in a dorm my freshman year. Then, for the summer between freshman and sophomore year, I went back to Plano to stay with my parents. Then I came back up to Cincy for my sophomore year. My Junior year i moved into my 2 room efficiency. Now i live in a 2 bedroom in the same building. My roommate is Lindsay. That brings us up to date. No, I am not an army brat. Yes, I do have an accent, but it's difficult to detect most of the time. Yes, I miss Texas sometimes, but no, i don't want to live there again. Yes, I consider myself Texan. But my extended family is VERY cajun, from Southwest Louisiana, both my mother and fathers side (they grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and up until i moved up to cincy, i would spend probably a total of two months a year there). Right now my mom and dad and brother are living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (Amish country!), and my sister lives in Austin, where she is pursuing a degree in sonography. And so I have now decided that because most of my life was spent in Houston, and because most of my vacation time was spent in Lake Charles, I am now going to tell people that i am from the Gulf Coast. Because, well, as you can see, it just takes too much explanation otherwise!

Where do you go to school/ What is your major?

I currently attend the University of Cincinnati, and I am double majoring in Geography and Classical Civilization, as well as a minor in classics, a certificate in GIS, and a lower division Honors degree. Phew! thats a lotta crap. But i figure it will be worth it later - I used to have a full scholarship (based on me being required to take latin every single damn quarter, ugh), and then school was free, but i recently lost me scholarship, and surprisinly enough, im super happy that i did. So now im paying with student loans (ugh) but I figure I will get the most out of college that i can, if possible. I hope to either be a professor, or work for the Government in the transportation department (public transportation mind you), or do some work in GIS consulting. I used to want to be a Latin teacher, but I guess after enough professors tell you that you suck at what you do, you get the idea. And the professors in the Geography Department have always told me I am wonderful at what I do. I have put some of the maps I have created up here along with some of the papers I have written. This summer (2005) I will be in New York for an internship with the Department of Transportation, and then after I graduate next year would like to spend a few months backpacking in Europe, then (hopefully) continue on to graduate school at Clark University. Clark is kinda a dream though, and I'm actually hoping for Boston University or OSU. Then from there I would like to move to Boston for a little while (because i heart boston), spend some quality time living with my parents before they retire, then move on to a real life, i suppose.

Sooooo, do you have a boyfriend?

Usually. My friend Jon refers to me as "Jessica the Eliminator". My dating status changes frequently, as do the boyfriends, sadly. Im almost always involved with someone, because im simply addicted to relationships.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Honestly, I have incredibly eclectic tastes. The music that I compose is not necessarily representative of the music I regularly listen to. I generally have about one or two songs that I'm listening to on repeat each week. Generally speaking though, my favorite bands/musicians include, but are not limited to:

Some Important Quotes

"Where love ceases, there hate begins." -Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy. My favorite book of all time. I truly identify with this statement.

"odi et amo. quare id faciam fortasse requiris? Nescio, sed fieri sentio et excrucior." -LXXXV, Catullus. For those of you who are NOT fluent in latin, heres the English for you: "I love and I hate. Perhaps you may ask why I do this? I do not know... but i feel it happening, and I am torn."

"Of all things which are living and can form a judgement/ We women are the most unfortunate creatures./.../when once she is wronged in the matter of love,/ no other soul can hold so many thoughts of blood." -The Medea, by Euripides. Another one of my favorite quotes exhibiting the tortured soul of a passionate woman.

Some of my favorites :)

Phew! A few other things about me, I guess. I graduated from Plano Senior High School, in Plano Texas, with a graduating class of about a thousand, and I am now working through college on scholarships, and as a delivery driver. I used to be a bank teller, and one of these days I want to put a page up about the quirkiness that is being a female bank teller under the age of 40 (i.e. most bank tellers). I love my job at Pomi's, i love my school, i love my friends. I appreciate the life that I have built for myself, and am very proud of the fact that I did indeed build it for myself. I suppose one of my biggest flaws is that I am extremely proud, stubbon, and at times irrationally independent, especially financially. I think thats enough for now. ;)
